Last night I was on my way to Monroeville from Oakland to pick up my girlfriend. About 1000ft before the Squirrel hill on ramp on the parkway east [the one with the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp] there was a dark Toyota Corolla or Camry [mid ninties] in the far left lane. I saw some red and blue lights further up ahead so I was just around the speed limit. The driver of the Toyota started drifting into my lane [middle lane] so i honked at him. I saw he wasn’t going to correct himself so I started accelerating to get past him while moving into the right lane. He jerked left and he must have jerked to far because he jerked right again. As he jerked right he hit my left rear behind the wheel. He knocked me sideways i started sliding turn the wheel right to ride out the slide [drifting, you know]. While sliding sideways i slid up the hillside parallel to the ramp and took out some signs [the mangled post is still there] and highway and back down. Sometime between descending the hill and stopping I got the car to slid the other way to avoid hitting a pick up parked on the shoulder. I eventually stopped and saw the Toyota either stopped or moving slowly behind me. With in a second I saw it blow right past me. As I’m trying to process in my mind what is happening i see a tractor trailer coming fast behind me so i quickly pull off to the shoulder.
My neck and back hurt called 911, and that was pretty much the end of it. State troopers didnt make it there until I was already at the hospital. They pretty much told me they arent going to do shit.
Not much damage to me. X rays came out fine. Doctor said I might have torn a tendon but there isnt really anything that can be done. So I have some stretched muscles and tendons, nothing big, just in some pain.
As for the car…
I was driving my 1991 Infiniti G20. I you have never seen it, it was a pretty clean chassis. No chassis rust at all [minus a little bubbling where the corner of the bumper meets the rear quarter]. Had some dents, but over all was in amazing condition for a 91 with 240k.
I got a chance to go over the car quick today. Rad support is bent a little, lower oil pan is smashed, front right fender is smashed, front bumper dented and ripped, RR 1/4 smashed, RR door smashed [wont open]. R rocker panel dented in a few places, floor scraped, rear bumper cover ripped off and run over by various idiots on the parkway.
