Wow, never would have thought that was coming! Wish I could have made it up there this year :-/

yeah, crazy fast progress

They’ve been planning a huge expansion for a while so that place is going to be amazing when it’s built. HV knows how to do shit right.

…they kinda dropped the ball on making deal with Mother Nature to get some snow this past year.

I know it was a bad season but this is no way to react.

“this season sucked, lets tear it down and build a strip mall”

They have had this in the works. You have to give Holiday Valley credit where its due. Yes the park is not always in top notch shape and they could always do things to make it better… but this is one company that puts all of its money back into making things better the next year. Every year they do something different.

They have added x amount of High speed chairs which not sure, but I dont think anyone else in the area has even 1. They put new snow guns in to be able to grab that 1 hour of perfect temps to be able to blow snow and not miss out on it. They built a new chairlift on Morning star which is better than ever. They took the other lift that was there and put it in over the wall, so now they have nothing but quad chairs. They put up the zipline course. The new Hotel. They always are getting newer rentals.

Hell, all of that being done in about 2-3 years… props to HV. This building I’m sure will be absolutely fantastic, and I cant wait to spend my time there again next year.

This was on the construction exchange as a design build project. Basically a contractor and an architect get to sit down with the owners and make this new place cool as fuck without having to have a public bidding process and all that. They are going to be spending huge amounts of $$ to make this place exactly what they want it to be.

In WNY the progress is considered “really fast”…anywhere else “getting shit done” is normal.

I laughed out loud…

I have to agree with this. After moving to UT, I’m AMAZED at how fast things get demolished/built here. The Highway dept must not have a union or it’s a union that actually does work. They rebuild/build highways 6 days a week, 24 hours a day. Buildings are demolished, the site readied, and the new building put up fast as hell, like 1-2 stories of steel on a highrise a day; which is typical for most big cities, just in blo it’d take a week to erect the steel for 1 floor.

Gotta put it to vote, put an injunction on operations, cry about butterflies and thne wonder why there’s no work.

God HV knows how to cater to the weekend gapers. I give it to them that they know where the money is, but for pete’s sake please dump at least a fraction of what they will spend on that building in the park.

I don’t think any amount of money will make the park better. It all boils down to who ever is making the decisions on what features to add and how to maintain them.

LOL this will be the reason again to why they never have a pipe anymore. Word is they needed to cut back on snow making money to offset the cost of the hotel they built. Now that they are building this with a shitty season they had this past winter… yeah, say good bye to any good planning for the park. It sucks that the first place they take the money is one of the biggest attractions for a ski resort. Not sure who is doing the planning, but this day and age… kids are growing up looking at more of the extreme aspect of things and not just the riding down a hill part of things. They need to realize this to bring more money and people to the resort.

I work with people at Holiday that will go to Peak and peak just because the park is better than the one they work at. Its pretty sad when they are given a free pass and have to pay for the other resort.

Edit: and the person deciding what goes where is Pat Morgan. He only has a say to what to put up were… but as for how much he can do or how much snow he can put where and when… that comes from higher up. He’s the dude running the HV facebook page. Say something if you want, I have. lol
