honda4life's 1999 Honda Civic Coupe Build

Well i decided to get rid of the talon, and pick up a honda, since it what i love working on, and feel the most comfortable to work on. I traded CWOOEK his 99 ex coupe with a d16y7 and greddy turbo kit for my 1g talon, both have their issues and quirks, found it to be a very solid trade.

pics of that CWOOEK sent me from when i was first intrested in the car, did take new ones yet.

Had the car, flatbeded to my house, and drove my talon over to his and took the plate off, as soon as it hit my garage it was go time.

steve looking over the old hacked up harness.
The engine harness that was in the car, was when the car had a gsr in it, it was all hacked up and torn to shit, with random wires everywhere. jake (06specv) and steve came over and we started to pull the old harness out, pretty simple and straight forward, coming out.

harness all out in this picture.

old hacked up harness

steve laying out the old and new harness labeling the new one with what plug is what

vtakkkkk plug on old harness found this funny

checko, steve and jake putting in the new harness routing the wires where they should be.
The harness was labeled already too. steve went ahead and laid out both harnesses and started to match up the plugs and re label the new harness, while he did that jake and i switched the rails on the seat (old one had a rip, a extra one was included that was rip free!) after steve got the harness all squared away, we started to put it back in the car and plug it into the connectors, checko then showed up and took over, with putting the harness in like a boss. The new engine harness is basically, in the car, a few plugs are not pluged in like o2 sensor, oil pressure sensor, started to mock up the ic piping for the car as it was never put on when the engine was swapped over, tighten some misc bolts down ( need to go over the whole bay to make sure all bolts are tightened down). we also have to drop the shifter and put it in the right way as it was put in backwards. Few other things, get a battery, different alternator (pulgs don’t match up) power wire from fuse box to battery and starter, get a battery, etc.

the miles of seat time ive had in this car (both driving and as a passenger) blow my mind. i went there and saw the b18c1 long block that i ended up purchasing, then looked in the driveway, and realized that this civic was previously owned by one of my best friends, one of my groomsmen, from when we were in high school, to about 2 years ago. fuckin beast.

best of luck with it. the shell is great, at least when beast owned it it was

Thanks jam it’s still clean no rust on body or underbody, all the suspension looks great to, Checko told me you knew about the car. I’m finally excited to have a Honda again!

Cars deff in solid shape! Little dings here and there. Interior is solid, now as long as Evan gets parts, the car will live again! Hahaha

Coming along nicely.

checkos right it has lil dents an dings but as i told evan on are way back to his house its like a canvas it has a story to tell…i predict with in the next few weeks it should be up an running once again just a few minor thing to get before we can get it to start after that it will be pretty straight forward on what needs to be done…some of the parts will most likely be grabbed from a junk yard to save on cash after all this is a budget build…can wait to do some more work on it evan!!

so much for the “snky snky” lol

^ right haha. He didn’t wait very long to spread the word haha. Aaron is you lude alive yet?!

nope, it cranked over the other day no problem. now that the fuel issue is fixed it wont.

dang, maybe you’ll get it running before winter!

It’s a battle to see who’s runs before winter!

Nick, Steve, Jesse, jake r and jake came by last night and we did a few small things as I’m waiting to get parts frome cwooek, that he has for the car, others will be from jy or ordered. I discovered that the harness is a CDM one so I need a CDM alternator. Will update with pics later.

^ I’m on a phone! Hahah, doesn’t count.

Sure it does! User Error!

So, how does the intercooler piping work lol?

BIG POWAH!

I’ll post some pics up of what I mocked up, it needs the flange welded onto the intake side for a hks ssq bov. I also need to get a different front mount mine is shot… I have a buddy that has a mishimoto zline that should fit that he’s selling me. So far I’m happy with the way things are going together, just waiting on cwooek to get me the parts that he forgot to give me. I also gotta reverse the shifter as it was out in backwards :ham:

This pipe is going to have to be cut down a bit, I forgot to take the pic with the u bend pipe but it stick out past the wheel. lol

As you can see Im going to need a flange welded in for the bov on the intake side, i have a hks ssq bov or a fake greddy type s, the vote for for the hks ssq…

Talked to cwooek and he said he’s dropping some more stuff off Thursday, I’m going to order, a new clutch line and the 3pin cdm alternator. might have to take a run to the yard also for misc stuff I’m forgetting. I also want to paint the valve cover, and do the valve cover gasket while i’m at it, any good suggestions. The wheels are going to be painted white, i was thinking white valve cover with black lettering or black with white or red lettering.

Why dont you swap over to a 96-00 EX manifold while you still have this in this state? Will be much better and look far better

I gave him an ex manifold with injectors and throttlebody, its off a manual though so hes gotta block off the IACV. Its a better manifold all around, and he should definitely use it.

I don’t want to do that right now, I want the car to run first, work with what I have, and from my research it looks like the manifold that cwooek gave me is a d16z6 and not a y8, I’m looking to swap out for a y8 auto im. I might just hold onto the im I have now and wait till I swap this setup into a different shell and I’ll do a mini me swap. Personally, I think the gravity intake looks gay but the way I routed the pipes worked out great.
