is that what ur gonna do clifford??
yea that is exactly what i was planning on doing.
to put it simply, its an h series engine with a b series transmission
Doesn’t the H2B kit cost a bit? I always figured it would be cheaper to bolt up a F-series trans and go with that.
theres basically 2 companies that make the adapters, one is like a grand and the other is 600 i think… so that will probably run more than the tranny
Yea all I could ever find them for was like a grand. You maybe able to find a F-series trans way cheaper the a H one.
B Series Tranny > F series tranny. My friend Jeff had his F series tranny mated to his h22… he changed it for a purpose. (F series is geared like horse cack)
This also eliminates having to cut a hole for the shifter cables.
Plus if you have an h series motor with a b16 or type r tranny you’ll have a damn quick car.

Here’s a link to the kit.
man… I just can’t justify spending 1500 just on an adapter kit… not including the motor and tranny.
It’ll get you to just about the same spot as a K-Series swap would do.
GSR bottom, B16 head = poor man’s ITR.
H2B = Poor man’s K-Swap.
H2B > h22, b16, b18, type-r
h2b = k-swap
…but it’s A LOT cheaper
thats how you justify spending the 1500 on an adapter kit which also includes clutch/flywheel… so you’re not exactly spending 1500 on the KIT, you’re spending 1500 on the kit along with a clutch, flywheel AND mounts. hasport mounts are 600 alone… the clutch and flywheel are 565. thats 1165 while you’re spending 1525 on the kit. So you’re actually spending 360 to be able to mount a b series tranny to your h22.
B series tranny will prevent you from having to cut into your car to put in cables for the shifter ;p
B series will also give you better gearing.
obd1 b18c long block = 1700
obd1 b16 long block = 1000 (which cant compare to b18c or h22)
obd1 h22 long block = 1200
h22 long block = 500 cheaper than gsr.
Spend 1000 on a B series tranny… still need clutch/flywheel and mounts… so H2B to me… is WELL worth it.
while… k swap is 4000 for the type s, 5500 for the type r (most people can’t get GREAT deals and have to settle through hmotors)
So if you went the route of h2b, you just spent roughly 3800 dollars…
3800 for the swap, or… 4000 to 5500 for a k motor ALONE.
A LOT of extra left over cash spent if you go h2b over k. With all that extra money that would’ve been spent on the k swap, you could’ve boosted that H2B. /End
I wish.;p Swapped H, call it a day. Fun beater, quick car… don’t care about anything beyond that. Serves its purpose. I can pick up my groceries faster than before. That puts a smile on my face.
Great info, I was just saying. I can’t justify a K swap either… I’m just a poor teenager. hahaha
TTT :ponder
it appears as though to do an H2B in a eg hatch i would have to remove the balancer shaft pulley and not use the balancer shafts. That doesn’t seem very intelligent. Everything I know about internally balanced motors says that removing the balancing = motor coming apart. I’m trying to get a little more research done to see if I can keep that and beat the piss out of the framerail instead.
Also a HUGE advantage to going h2b over h22 is axle alignment. word on the streets says the h22 swaps eat axles like woah.
where can i pick up an h22 on the cheap? any ideas? I would also need to find a nice B series tranny… i have a spare one at the house out of an integra… i assume that will work. I don’t give a shit about LSD blah blah blah, i just want a quick, fuel efficient daily I can beat the balls off of.
Wayne. Seems like a lot of projects you want to do has the word “cheap” in it. Cheap and car modding generally don’t go well.
:lol :+1
you need to buy a honda
I could go buy a shell and motor for the change I find in my couch
seems like this is the only project i’ve ever done or inquired about that was cheap. Maybe you’ve got me confused with someone else? Besides this is a daily/beater project. Who wants to spend all their money on that shit, I dunno about you, but I’d rather throw my money away rebuilding my front suspension twice a month.
I’ve never been accused of being cheap before! :crackup
Sorry. I thought you have mentioned other possible cars with a major budget in mind? My apologies.
its all good bro… in all honesty being cheap prolly wouldn’t hurt me none! In fact I think my girl would love to hear it!
Actually that place Japan Star has some OK prices on H22’s, but I dont know anything about them
