Honeymoon destinantions

My fiance and I are trying to figure out somewhere to go on our honeymoon and the travel agent was of no help whatsoever. She was just steering us to Sandals in Mexico. We have our airfare taken care of to anywhere so we want to take advantage of that and go somewhere that we may not be too likely to go in the future because of the cost of the airfare. We want to be able to relax but, cannot sit around all day. We would like warm weather and some beaches. We were thinking of going in August of '10 but might be able to do fall/winter of '10. We are thinking of a Mediterranean Cruise or Australia. We went to Italy a couple years ago so not looking to go there.

Need ideas
airfare is taken care of
Rather not do a regular resort destination
would like warm weather

Take a cruise, end of story.

We would rather not as we are getting the airfare taken care of for us. This is a great opportunity to go somewhere we normally wouldn’t. Were going to do a cruise the next year anyway.

if youre into a quiet really nice beaches i used to go to hutchenson island every winter when i was younger and would love to go back. check it out, its super relaxing. i used to stay at the turtle reef but there are a lot of other resorts.

Umm ya still have to fly to the port. I did a Mediterranean one last year for 13 days and I ha to fly into Barcelona, I also did three Caribbean ones this year had had to fly into every port. I am going back to puerto rico in April on another cruise and I have to fly there, lol.

You left out the big details.

Anything you’d like to do? It is a big world, are you looking for beach?

And you made no mention of budget, or duration. If you’re going for a week and keeping it cheap, I’m not going to recommend Bora Bora.

-edit-

I vote NO on all inclusive resorts, most of Mexico and most of the Caribbean and a HUGE NO on a cruise.

Go somewhere interesting. Just my $.02

me and the fiance/wife are taking an Eastern Caribbean Cruise in September for our Honeymoon…got a good deal on flights to FL thru Hotwire and the cruise itself was like 1400 total for 2 people 7 days 6 nights…PM Me if u want more details

someone I know is going to Belize

I thought that was a BA idea.

Can’t go wrong with hawaii either, tons of shit to do

 to mexico

hows about Hawaii?

I loved barcelona, and at that time of year flights will be $$$$$

oh, also, Rio de Janero is a pretty sick city.

QFT.

My girlfriend and I just got back from 2 weeks in Brazil and Argentina. Rio de Janeiro was amazing. It was also the only time we weren’t traveling with locals, and we were able to navigate, communicate, and get by just fine. Awesome, awesome time.

Buenos Aires was also really awesome, and SO FREAKING CHEAP.

If interested, PM me for some more info!

I went to Aruba on a all inclusive. It was really nice. We layed really low in Aruba, planning the wedding in Boston Ma and living out here was a hassle, and buying a house at the same time again was a big stress. So we only really 1 one activity and that was a snorkeling trip. Not there is a whole lot to do in Aruba.

We went to Cancun MX in April of 2008, and had a GREAT time! Every other day we did a big activity. Chitza Itza, Xcaret, Snorkeling. And on the other days stayed at the hotel and relaxed. I really enjoyed our time in Cancun, we are not drinkers/partiers, but if you are that would be a GREAT place to go and there strip is LOADED with bars and clubs.

Good luck and have fun!

XCARET is pretty sweet, I went there for spring break like ten years ago.

Xcaret was pretty neat. I enjoyed Chitza Itza much more. Very sureal(sp)!

ugh i want another south america trip soo bad… I went to ecuador but it was during politcal turmoil :frowning: so it sucked we had a curfew and shit

may i ask what travel agent u were talking to

I’m planning on going to Hawaii next summer (actually need to get that planned pretty soon). My fiancee studied abroad in Australia and spent time in Melbourne, Tasmania, and Perth. Definitely sounded like an awesome place to go, and probably one that you would only visit once in your lifetime.

It was at Liberty Travel I don’t remember the girls name.

Hawaii is the easy choice. Plenty to do there and plenty of beaches to also relax and do nothing on. That is where we went for our honeymoon, we did Maui, Kauai and Oahu and it was great. We are planning a return trip next year.

That being said Australia is amazing, but you will need to visit more than one place while you are there. Spend some time in Sydney but then be sure to fly up north to the Great Barrier Reef. It is amazing, but make sure you go during our winter (their summer). Also you need to go for longer than a week, the flight is brutally long (especially in coach) and doing it for a week or less would be crazy.
