How did 1st day go?

I searched and didn’t find any threads on the 1st day of buck. I was wondering how everyone did and if they have any pics?

I went to my buddys camp up Cooks Forest in Forest County. Seen 13 doe and 1 spike, didn’t take anything. Wasn’t about to drag a doe 1.3 miles out of the woods  Actually no one that I know did good 1st day this year. I am working today because my parents are in NYC… but am taking off for the rest of the hunting season.

Saw a half dozen doe, and almost ran over a buck between spots with the Rhino. Most of the stories I’ve heard have been about the same. Thankfully the Rhino enclosure came in on Friday so we got that on and we picked up a little propane powered catalytic heater from wally world so at least we didnt freeze our balls off to not see anything.

I missed my Rhino yesterday… walking 1.3 mile into the woods is no fun… dragging a dear back that far is defiantly not fun! Your right about the enclosure too… there the ****! Ill be out on it the next 2 weeks.

Maybe the deer outsmarted the hunters this year

Tough weather yesterday for hunting. Buddy of mine got a 9 point down in Monongahela but other than that the other 6 or 7 friends of mine that were out didn’t take anything.

I had to work… Took the last of my vacation days for bear season. Sounds like I didn’t miss anything.

There out there… just gotta be in the right spot and have a little luck!

There is a 12pt behind my house running around on the farm… I have permission to hunt it… probably will the rest of this week.

Got mine in archery again this year … Nice 9 point/17 inch spread. Archery>Rifle

I agree… its defiantly a hunt compared to just picking deer off

I was going to buy a bow this year… never went archery. I am going to borrow a friends bow for the after Christmas late archery and see how I like it. All my friends love archery and just go rifle for fun, defiantly something I want to get into.

Any pics of the 9?

Saw a bunch of doe and an 8/10 pt buck, but no shots available.

Ill be out late season as well to fill my doe tags w/ my bow. In the mean time I am predator hunting every chance I get.

Make sure the draw weight/length is right for you and practice before you go out. If the length is off just a tad it throw everything off, and if the weight isn’t comforitable for you … you’ll never pull it back slowly & silently while being in a tree and cold. If you need any help or have questions about getting into it, feel free to let me know dude. The best way to choose is to go and shoot them. They all have a different feel. Im shooting a Hoyt Vetrix, Fuse String, Fuse Sights, Fuse Stab., Fuse Detach Quiver, G5 Metapeep, QAD Ultra Pro Fall A Way Rest, Easton Carbon Axis ST’s w/ Rage 100gr. & Luminoks.

Heres the 9 Point that I got this year … Got him on Oct. 31st

Very nice

i didnt see much this year. few doe, 1 spike and a fugly halfrack… it had small 4pt rack on the left side, and what looked like a twisted horn down the side of its face. It grew down and around its face but it was a single antler. I decided not to shoot and hold out for a nicer deer.

Had a group of deer move thru an area that i was suppose to be in on a drive which i believe contained a decent 8 pt, but i wasnt in position and only caught a glimpse of a few doe and deer running. Couldnt see what some of them were

First saturday is my lucky day tho. If i dont get one on the first day, usually first saturday i see a nice buck

I saw a TON of doe and fawns, 2 four points and a spike but not one legal buck.

allowed to kill coyotas ? seen 2 on saturday night

I watched as a 10 point walked across rt 88 and into advance auto’s parking lot last night. seems like they know where to hide when dec 1st rolls around lol

365 days a year they are legal to kill …

Fox only during the fur takers season

worth the meat? They sctattered when they seen headlights anyway.

Not edable … Unless your starving or something drastic. I ethier get them full mounted or have the pelt tanned and I hang them up. If the bullet hits a bone on exit and blows through and does a lot of fur damage, then I just save the tails.

White light will scare them … When I do my predator hunting I hunt 95% of the time at night, under a red light (One on my hat for scanning eyes, then a scope mounted red light for the shot)

Is it tough to tell the difference between a Coyote and a dog? They look alot like German Shepherds to me.
