I can’t for the life of me get the damn engine mounts off… When I tried to loosen the bolt on the top of them, the mount split and the grease shit came out. And from the bottom I can’t get a good enough angle to get some pressure on the bolt… Is there a trick or is it just a pain in the ass?
Thanks,

It’s just a pain.
Constantly needing to get under the car and then reaching over and in again.
When I got my Nismo mounts installed by a mechanic (good choice), it took them in the area of 3 hours to get the olds out and the Nismos in place properly. They weren’t having fun with it either…using just about every socket in their lineup…
I would guess make sure you have the engine supported properly, and soak the bolts in something before going at them.
Good luck.
I just went through this whole process, took me 4 days to put my Nismo mounts in because I stripped the drivers side bottom bolt and it took about 2 days to hack at it with a chisel and a recip. saw. One thing you will need is an elbow or whatever, the socket thing that can bend 90 degrees. To the get top bolts off, for the drivers side you need just a 14mm wrench and a breaker bar, for the pass. side, take off the filter and use the wrench or a rachet. For the bottom, the pass. side is easy, the drivers side you need the elbow, with an extension, and a breaker bar, but be careful not to strip it because you will cry like a baby. Its in the worst possible place ever and you can barely reach it with your hand. Once you get the bolts out, I jucked up my engine by the oil pan, I wrapped a 2x4 in a towel, and supported it with that. Jack it up until you can wiggle the old mounts off. See in my situation, I jacked up the pass. side of the motor (corner of the oil pan) to get the left motor mount off, it was hard but I got it. The drivers side was even harder, I jacked up the engine so much the header was against my floor and bending, make sure to keep an eye on the tranny and the tunnel, you dont wanna lift it so high that the car starts going up, and you can dent your oil pan. Good luck.
