I’m just guessing…
Doing the Tranny mount shouldnt be hard ? just put a jack on the tranny and remove the Cross Member?
As for the left and right motor mount ? ? ? if your a champ you can figure a way to get them in just hoist the motor up slightly. I wouldnt wanna try it thou.
Tools… 17mm wrench for the motor mounts I think ? Tranny mount/Cross member I’m not sure… Impact works well thou.
Yah. The tranny mount it not hard. I just did it today. But i wonder how to change the engine mount without the hoist. Thanks for the help.
well the top bolts on the mounts are easy to get at… the lower ones are a bitch! you can get at them laying under the car so try to get them first?
if you do then just get a chain fall or engine hoist and just slightly lift the engine a bit ?
the 2 lower motor mount nuts (under the crossmember) are 14mm.
the driver’s side nut is hard to get at if you have power steering lines in the way… the passenger side is easier.
definitely hoist the motor to take all the weight off the crossmember.
all you need is a jack according to this guy… and a piece of 2 by 4… dont need the hoist.
I had my mechanic do these for me…was a pretty time-consuming task. Judging by how they did it, if I was to do it myself, I would probably run the car up ramps (preferably a hoist obviously…) and jack/support the engine a bit from underneath on the side you’re working on, possibly from the oil pan or similar…you’ll also likely be reaching over the top and then back under the car a lot getting the bolts.
At least there are only 2 engine mounts, and the Nismo mounts are worth it!
Thanks for the help everyone. I’ll try to do it when i change the engine oil.
