How much do you make an hour?

Homeowners insurance is not 100/month on a $100k house. More like $30-35/month.

Agreed, that there are a ton of “hidden” costs.

^you dont live in florida in a flood zone… lol…

i forget but my house in buffalo cost about 500 a year for a 50k assessed property, so i just guessed what a 100 would be… i can tell you what a i pay now is more than 100.

well, and home owners insurances is just as much about what is in the house too. I don’t know about you, but $25k worth of contents insurance isn’t even going to come close. most people forget about this…until their house burns down.

Boy would I love to have bought a house for less than $100k

I would definitely be driving a car worth half the house.

Education: high school, 1 semester of machine tool at ECC and 1 for business
job: DirecTV tech
hourly wage: paid piece rate but it works out to roughly 20/hr
weekly: 700-900 before tax
annual 42K last W2

There is absolutely no job security with my company, horrible company to work for, shit for benefits, no room for promotion or pay increase. I would love to get into working the commercial side of DTV but I do not know who covers the buffalo area. I enjoy my job very much but this is not a career. It destroys your back and hands. Will need to find another line of work in the next couple years.

I don’t make anything!! Simply because I started my own business and it’s a down time right now so a paycheck isn’t an option. Still recouping the start-up costs and one time fee BS. But with that being said I couldn’t be happier.

I was expecting more unemployed people posting since this is Buffalo.

 I know right, All my teachers in HS told me if I didn’t goto college that I wouldn’t find a good job, :blah: haha joke is on them. I make more a year then them, not to mention all legal “holidays” off, not to mention 4 weeks of vacation and I also didn’t mention the business my wife and I own.

And I’m 24. Most of my friends have 4 year+ degrees and make less then I do :gay:

Of course school is needed for some fields, like doctors, engineers, etc… Just depends on what you wanna do. But telling kids that without a degree you’ll get no where is a scam!

Anyone ragging on college makes me :picard:

its not for everyone, but anyone who thinks education is a bad thing is :bloated:

If you end up getting a degree in your field, it certainly can make things easier.

It is not bad but, it is not always needed as far as income goes. I think that is what people are saying. Ask Bill Gates.

Most people who rag on school sucked at it. I picture it being like how I hate basketball because I am short and white.

^Yeah, Bill Gates sucked at it. You can go tell him if it will help your ego/insecurity.:gotme:

He did suck at it.

For every Bill Gates how many uneducated people are unemployed or working for <$10 an hour? 100,000? He’s the exception that makes the rule.

You said this last winter! :evolve:

I also wonder what this thread’s correction factor is.

Well with or without the existance of colleges you are going to have stupid and lazy people so that’s not really fair. lol

I myself know at least a handful of “wealthy” people that did not graduate college. But yeah of course I know more people that that are not wealthy. lol

Do most major league sports players graduate? I mean really graduate. I honestly don’t know but I have seen some dusey interviews. lol

dont forget your awesome car

shut up, I’m dropping out and hitting it big. Then I’ll fund my retirement via the lottery.

Some major league sports players “graduate” but they get their classes handpicked to pass and still get “tutors” to do everything for them. They may get a piece of paper but that’s what it’s worth. I think the correlation really is with dedication. There’s dropping out because you have other, reasonable plans and are more dedicated to them and there’s dropping out because you suck at school or because you’re too lazy to apply yourself. The second group tends to use the first group as argument fodder to justify their decision when they’re really not that much alike.

Also people who aren’t educated always have something to prove. Seems like they’re always bragging how they worked super hard and managed to become middle class while those other suckers were coasting through school and ended up in the same place, and want to “stick it to” everyone that was just looking out for them and told them how the odds say stay in school.
