Since there has been so much talk about IT; what do you think the future of IT is in this country?
I should teach myself IT and get certified and switch career paths as my CJ degree is getting me nowhere at the moment.
data security
High School education w/ some college
NYSDOCS
Salaried
enough to pay bills get back and forth to work and buy some go fast parts
The latest IT craze is all about security that includes physical, virtual, access controls, monitoring/scanning, and the list goes on.
In the past it was programming and DBA but I think those careers have been decreasing since many organizations don’t need many dba’s since the main ones are Oracle and SQL.
Adding more and more red tape. Also making sure that any 5 minute job requires several hours of paperwork to be completed and delays business.
I am impressed, I just turned 24 and don’t I would be in your shoes by 26 but you never know :party2:
I should include that IT is trying to get ready for PCI, HIPAA, GLBA, etc.
we’re getting there…It’s really sad what type of shape the health care industry is in right now though(IT-wise).
CISSP is more management…I have the OSCP and CEH certs right now for security. However I would like to move onto a regional security position at timewarner some day so I will attempt the CISSP when I get time.
I would also love to do just pentesting every day.
Most of what i do is carrier level networking OSPF, BGP, ISIS, Multicast, Alcatel, Juniper, Cisco, and some how I still end up doing customer fiber installs from time to time.
PCI, HIPPA and all that is ok but a career in it = going over a check list of yes/no questions
Yeah yo what about the CHHGD and the CAGGF… ooh don’t forget about the IIJH or the GGSFX

If I was in IT i would just make up a bunch of random letters for my certs.
Yeah, I got my FDASFK, QREE, CHGAS, JKL, MVNAS last year. I am studying for my OPFIL right now. Down the line I hope to get my FFFUUU.
LMAO!
WORD?!
Yeah, I know it’s a long shot, and it’s a little more programming than I’d like, but I have to get an FFFUUU if I want to get a FGGT.
Ohh… soo ahh… you’re looking to get a FGGT… yeah… have fun with uh… that.
I’m working on my JZZONFCE and my SLMPIG to get at my HTBTCH.
