My experience has been almost strictly houston and the surrounding sprawl.
That’s another thing i hate. The sprawl. It’s like one big strip mall dotted with communities outside the city.

fwiw to the OP:
I’m 22 years old, single…and I packed up my life and moved to the southwest with only a ~10 day notice due to a job offer.
Buffalo is nice, but there is SO many nicer places, Buffalo does have a lot of good people, but if you have any type of social networking skills, you can meet a lot of cool people wherever you go.
also, best thing about Texas…drive-thru liquor stores. FTMFW
Agreed 100%. What are you doing for work down in Austin?
I’m debating a move right now. I’ll move for the SAME salary. I just want to get out of NOVA/DC. I’m thinking Colorado. Although there’s NOTHING close. The exact opposite of where I am right now. Seems to be good weather, a nice place, good jobs, and shit to do though.
Florida before my move = red state
Florida now = Blue state

You are definitely weird enough to fit into Austin. Good for you man!
It depends on where I’d be relocating to. I’ve been to a lot of places in the last couple years because I travel a lot for work. There are definitely some places I’d never move to, and a bunch of places that I’d move to in a heartbeat if the pay made up for the cost of living change, taxes, and relocation fees. Bottom line, I think it really depends on your specific situation.
Id be interested in checking out Austin
