So I picked up this little guy the other day and it’s a complete departure from what I’m used to and what I’ve been doing for the last decade… it’s actually not bad for being nearly 20 years old and is in pretty good shape.
So the plan is to check it over and tire up the loose ends and fix what’s broken.
Grab a 6bt and adapt it to the factory drivetrain and drive it for a bit before making some other drivetrain decisions to properly back up the Cummins. Most likely this will be my daily and will unfortunately depend most of its life on the highway.
Here’s some pics and yes, i did this from my phone… holy huge pics! :
Yessir! Want to rock a Dzl for some more work capacity. I figure the 6bt is a good choice. I would like a 24v, but I’m just fine with a 12v because that’s about 300x better than the 5.7 gasser in this pig.
So what are the “TDI wizards’” thoughts on the 6bt, lol!
( Getting the feeiling this may end in DETROIT )
LOLOL, that’s awesome! Yeah man, guess the washer pump had lost it’s seal too. Threw a new one in there so I could see again. I always park like I own the place, lol!
What goodies did you get?
You’ll have to falcon punch me next time so I know you’re there! I’m bad at that stuff too!
Good to know, it’s probably going to be hard to overwork the 6bt in this truck given it’s size. That and I think the drivetrain will give out before the engine. I was thinking even a 4bt, but I may actually tow some stuff and not just move the truck around.
LOL, this is the first time in a decade that I have actually been able to walk in to one of these parts stores (even though I’ve worked for them on several different occasions) and get the stuff I need for a vehicle on the spot!
Yeah me too, well, I’m sure the same thing will happen again!
