If your looking for cheap you won’t be going much past 7psi, If you want reliable the key on ka-t’s is timing and obviously making sure your not running too lean, well tuning in general. You won’t be making 300hp or 250 really with cheap. If you want cheap be happy with 200- 220hp I would say. Other then that find some turbo pipes/ inter-cooler, a bov would be nice, to stop compressor serge. An exhaust header to match up to your turbo, some upgraded injectors/ fuel pump, an exhaust to attach to the down pipe. Some lines for the oil and perhaps coolant to cool your turbo, a modified oil pan for the oil to get back to the pan from turbo. Some sorta AFC, or Computer management to tell your comp you have a turbo, so it can stop with the weak sauce fuel trim. Also a wide-band o2 and a boost gauge with vac would be best. In the end save up more then a grand or two, and don’t advance your timing too much. Past 10psi Your looking at pistons, perhaps some cams, and head gasket upgrades.
DA CAMS CANT TAKE DA BOOST BRO
lol@google mechanics.
I was pointing out it would be a good idea to gain more hp to the 250, 300 range that he was hoping for.
any sub $2000 reliable turbo kits out there? Im not talking about ebay shit.
i have a setup that sisnit garbage pm me
Avoid SAFC or piggybacks, I have a tuned ECU if you need it. (Redline EFI Specialist, 370cc, Stock MAF)
Please do tons of research before purchasing anything.
Buy an already built motor from the states (ka-t.org) and a used setup and save monies. There was a guy selling full setup for 1900.
Put those monies towards tuning.
Don’t ever buy a godspeed setup and expect to beat on it reliably. A chromed turd is still a turd. I’ve spent hundreds of hours researching KA-t’s so you can pm me some questions if your answers don’t show up in here.
I like this ka-t setup.
^ I concur.
Sr’s are way more reliable for track, unless u spend the money to build a ka the proper way.
With that said, if all you want is a reliable 250whp or less street car, then Ka would work, assuming ur ka is in good condition.
I’ve been considering a reliable KA-T build instead of an SR swap too, and after talking to some ppl i have a list of things so far:
z32 Maf
Walbro fuel pump
aem wideband
550cc injectors
tuned ecu
decent turbo manifold
decent turbo/intercooler/piping
good exhaust
Ps. as for my build, im aiming for a reliable KA-T with a little kick to it…reliably making 250hp would be nice
I built one fully. PM if u have questions.
^^^ thats ka?
