KA swap instead or SR?

I was thinking about buying a low KM KA motor, or w/e and rebuilding it, new parts, either mod the shit out of it, without a turbo, or just rebuild the motor, and then turbo it.

Or, an SR swap.

I know that an sr swap installed proffesionally would cost around 4500-5500. I have looked but I can only find KA engines for like 500 or less, but no idea where to get turbo kits for them, and no idea how much they would cost. I would be able to do most of the work myself, including installation.

Anyone here built a KA-T?

Here are some sites for you:
Turbo kit (there are a ton of places that make them this is just one)

Rebuilt Kit

Thanks. Would I need both of those?

Also, what does rebuilding a motor entitle you to do so that It is “like new” again. Rings, valves, pistons, headgasket, what else?? What exactly in the bottom end do you need to rebuild.

I want to have the motor in my garage and work on it, stockpile parts and build it and when my motor craps out or whenever I finish I can stick this motor in. It would save me so much time/trouble doing the clutch and timing belt with the motor out correct?

I have a set of kade engine and motor forsale pm me if you like more info on it.

If you have $5000 to do it right then go KA if not stick with an SR.

Why is that? What is doing it right?

I just want to put parts on the motor as I can afford it, and stick a turbo on it after its rebuilt properly. But im still not totally sure what else you need to do to rebuild a motor, anyone help?

You don’t seem to know what your really getting yourself into, and it doesn’t seem like you have alot of mechanical experience, so re-building the motor yourself is probably not a good idea/out of the question. The stock ka is a very strong motor and should hold up to 300+whp if well maintained.
If you think you need to do a re-build, then your looking at pistons, rings, rods, machine work, head gasket, and I would recomend getting a pro to build your bottom end, and even after that $3000 you haven’t even touched the head yet and you still don’t have forced induction. Add on turbo, intercooler, exhaust manifold, dp, exhaust and charge piping, injectors, engine management, MAFS, fuel pump, oil lines and clutch and you would have a pretty solid set-up, except for having a suspension and brake set-up that can’t keep up :E

The other option is to use some different stock sr turbo parts on a stock longblock to assemble your budget turbo set-up, which should get you somewhere into the 200-250whp range

LOL… sr it is. HAHA…

What if i just wanted to put a stock KA24DE back in, but one i know would last… should I take one from some guy who did a swap and just install it as is, or what are some things u would do to make sure its gonna last.

If you have 5000, get an RB25!

If i were to swap a 6 in it would be a 2JZ.     Im not intersted in a swap and i love the fact KA’s are cheap as FACK!!!
And i ACTUALLY know how many KM’s are on my engine. :E :E :E

Go SR man, i mean KA is great if you have the money to build it to the point where it will hold up to the capabilities it has with 2.4 litres of displacement, but for a cheapish and well documented method do an SR20. It a great little engine with lots a room to grow when your budget increases.

whats ur power goal? u made a kaet

Jeez I know how true that is!
