HUD not working

Hey guys,

what is the most likely cause of HUD and Speedo not working?

I have the wonderful 2500 rpm redline as well. Fuel cuts off exactly at 2500rpm.

I checked the VSS and it is connected and working good. The Odometer is also working.

Thanks so much for any help in advance.

sometimes if you switch between km;s and mph you may press the knob in which turns the HUD off, that was the problem for me twice, then i realised what i was doing… lol

there are a host of potential problems, but this is something that people tend to overlook

John, is this an SR or KA? Either way the car is in limp mode. If memory serves you might be advised to check the wiring and stuff at the MAFs

I’ve got the same problem with the HUD/speedo on one of the coupes… it actually flashes on once in a blue moon. some guys on Zilvia say it’s a common problem caused by bad soldering connections on the cluster.

if you figure it out, let me know!

I agree with Mike. Sounds like a MAFs problem to me.

that is also a problem, in fact my dash lights suffer from intermittancy as well

Hey Mike,

this is a KA24E. Could the MAFS still cause the HUD not working?

Ohh I see!

BTW, its not just the HUD that’s not working, the entire speedo is not working either :frowning: Would pushing that button kill the whole speedo?

No… the speedo should be on all the time.

I think there is a control box that sometimes craps out on the HUD/digi speedo. But I would think that your limp issue is the bigger problem.

Hey guys

Thanks for all your help! I finally got the HUD to work.

BTW, my problem was actually with fuses, although none of my fuses were actually blown.

If you are having problem with your HUD, first check the second fuse from the top on the right hand side,

then check the second fuse on the bottom on the left hand side.

then check the 4th fuse on the bottom on the left hand side.

With older cars like ours, I find that even if the fuse is in, it may not have a good connection. I used some conductive grease, and bent the fuses a little so the connection is more stiff.

Good luck with your HUD.

John, is the car still in ‘limp’ mode?

Nope!
