There are two different kinds of religious rules:
Those laid down my God, and those laid down by the pope.
While I don’t believe in either, the former should carry a hell of a lot more weight than the latter.
So can you give an example of rules laid down by God?
any rule not “carved into stone” by some lightning or some shit on a mountain was made up by men and therefore “made up”

The commandments were carved by Moses and were said to have come from God, no? The Pope kinda works the same way. He gets his orders from God. Could you imagine if God said to me, “hey raylene, tell everyone down there they can’t chop down any more trees” Who on earth would believe me? ha ha So I see why the Pope lays laws into place within the church.
This is just what I believe. I am glad you guys respect other viewpoints, that is extemely commendable. Also, thanks for showing me your side, it’s good to have a few viewpoints.

Believe what you want to believe, who is someone else to tell you you are wrong. If I go to hell because I had pepperoni pizza today then so be it, but I would hope that who decides on where I go, if there is such a person, would realize I’ve lead a good life, didn’t cheat or hurt any one and did my best to be a good person.

Well i tried to google the origin of the commandments and no luck.
I think an open mind is good to have when it comes to religion. I don’t try to push it on others b/c it’s not my place.
I don’t think anyone is saying that if you eat meat today you are going to hell. That is just insane. If you are a practicing catholic you shouldn’t have meat, among other things.

I guess because of the position he is in he has to think of others and not himself. That is how I see it.

i just see whacko people (cults , muslims) that ‘preach’ suicide / homicide through prayer from god… where this is obviously one man’s (or a group idea) idea / plan that he is claiming to come from god. Religion is used because people that are religious are blinded from this sort of thing. it’s dangerous IMO
