Lent was created in 325 AD.

Originally, it meant you fasted while the sun was up.

A series of popes since have watered it down to its current state. It’s supposed to make you “die” to your desires until your “rebirth” with Christ on Easter.

Since it’s a creation of the pope and not a creation of the Bible, I don’t see why it’s practiced. I always loved the short lines at the Taco Bell in Shaler’s cafeteria though.

Yes I can tell.
The commandments were carved by Moses and were said to have come from God, no? The Pope kinda works the same way. He gets his orders from God. Could you imagine if God said to me, “hey raylene, tell everyone down there they can’t chop down any more trees” Who on earth would believe me? ha ha So I see why the Pope lays laws into place within the church.

This is just what I believe. I am glad you guys respect other viewpoints, that is extemely commendable. Also, thanks for showing me your side, it’s good to have a few viewpoints.

pretty much everything about modern religion is contradictory with the teachings of the bible. not that everything in the bible isnt contradictory with itself, and pretty much everything else.
