Been using the mpg tune from DonkeyBalls’ superchips flash tuner and went through half a tank of reg driving with ac on full all the time. average mpg is 13.1. This blows. Im towing the car tonight and this weekend so I will put the tow tune on and see how it works. if I dont like it I will try the 87 performance tune. If any of these work, ill buy the tuner from him and let it work. If not then I guess I’ll have to look into a custom tune with supporting mods.
And actually Im starting to think if maybe the previous owner had some flash tune on it before, which is why i was getting low mpg and it made decent power.
I really dont think I should be ‘trying’ to get more mpg out of a nice 2009 Silverado. I like the truck a lot but this really sucks that im spending time and money to make it better.
My pops new 2500HD (non diesel) gets about 10 mpg

our '09 F-250 at work averages 14.8 mpg.

Like i said on the other forum put it on 87 performance and raise the shift pressure at least to 10 and i bet you will gain 2-3mpg with normal driving. Also i did some reading on the fuel saver mode and everyone says it doesn’t work well lol…
Nice truck, I feel you pain on the mpg. I’ve got an '09 Ram 1500 and I’m getting 13-15mpg mixed, towing I get around 8-9 with a 26ft enclosed.
Nice truck. I have herd they are gas hogs though. I am curious to see if you can get it to pick up much with some work.
i got my 08 leveled with 33’s and i get 16mpg.

I filled my tank July 11th. I just put gas in yesterday. 509 miles and it had a gallon or 2 left in it. I averaged 19.9mpg, you have to leave the display on “instant fuel economy” so you know when it’s in V4 mode. You’ll find the sweet spots where it has enough power to maintain speed in V4 mode and get crazy mileage.
08 4 wheel drive, extended cab, 6.5’ bed.

What year and motor? It will give you almost 30hp 30tq I think on a truck like choda’s but it has 87,91,93 octane tunes and tow tune. If choda doesn’t buy it you can try it out and its nice if your auto cause you can run more shift pressure and shift rpm for each gear. I set mine up full pressure 2nd / 3rd and it would chirp 2nd most of the time. Its a cool tuner with a bunch of features.
After driving around the last few days on the MPG tune, I took it off and put the 87 oct Performance Tune on the truck. Best MPG I seen with the MPG Tune was 13.1 mpg.
I filled my truck and clicked the stock chevy tow button then towed my car to PA and averaged 13.1 mpg there and 12.8 back ( stopped traffic and took back roads through Angola ). Average mph there was 73 with AC on full and cruise. I’m thinking with this performance tune I should be getting some good numbers.
I also ran my truck down the 1/4 twice. Went ~~ high 16s at 83mph ~~ hahaha

word yea i wouldnt mind throwing a tune on it see what it does mine has been decent lately but can always be better
