I cant pass emissions! - honda prelude

so this is the second year in a row i got “waived” with for my emissions because the shop couldnt get my car to pass. this year he replaced my O2 sensor which i paid 140 for last year to try to pass… urg…

anyways. he said he couldnt get my car to go into closed loop even when warmed up. i assume that is pretty much 100% of my problem, because i would expect the car to run rich if it never thinks it warmed up.

he said the coolant temp sensor seems fine, and he thought it was the computer. im on a tuned P28 from hybrid, and it also failed last year on a p13. the year before that, even tho i didnt test it, it appeared to be running rich on a p14 i was temporarily running. having used 3 computers, im guessing the problem is elsewhere (as in not the computers). anyone have a damn clue?

i want to pass emissions because you technically need to to race autoX.

When you are changing out computers are you changing the eprom from hybrid as well? Or do you use the stock maps?

im not sure what eprom is (im assuming the programed chip)?

the p14 was a virgin computer.
the p13 had some ebay “spoon” chip bullshit.

if i bring the car to hybrid do they have a way to check if its goin into closed loop or not?

When you have any circuits turned off in Crome, then it won’t enter closed loop. All you have to do is bring up the saved tune on the computer that was put on the ecu and that will tell you.

I’d get it emissioned with the p13 in it. Does it fail the sniffer or what? they should be able to tell you what to change to help it pass.
