hey
i got another problem for u guys…when i start my car the rpm idles at about 1100 to 1200. does this seem too high?
thanks again
Does it go down as the car heats up? Cause that’s normal.
If it stays at 1000 ALL the time then you need to adjust the little screw that controls your idle.
Or your temp sensor is damaged (and it’s seperate from the one that shows the temp in the car)
the idling always stays at 1000 even if i’ve been driving around a bit. my car also shakes too when it idles. how/where is that little screw that controls my idle and where is my temp sensor located?
Unfortunately I only know where the one on the CA18 is
could this problem be solved with an aftermarket cold air intake?
Probably not the best way to solve the problem, IMHO, but it may work if there is some form of problem with your current intake setup.
so what other alternatives do i have at solving this annoying problem. also if my car is shaking when the rpm is high wont a air intake stop the shaking???
why would an air intake have anything to do with engine shake (unless it was damaged)?
I’d check your current intake for leaks and make sure the MAF is connected properly as well as making sure the air is hitting the MAF sensor properly.
If your car drives normally though (at load / throttle) … it is likely another problem.

how do i know if the air is hitting the MAF sensor? and again, how do i solve the problem of a high rpm idle? :?
thanks a bunch

- Remove your passenger kick panel
- Unbolt the ECU
- Rotate it carefully to the side with the screw and two LED’s (without disconnecting it)
- Turn the screw slightly to adjust idle speed
It could also be the idle air control valve, but that would cause idle irregularities, rather then just a high idle.
