I don’t come here very often (actually, the only forum I do go to daily is the KawasakiNinja300.com forum, I don’t even go on the Infiniti ones anymore - cars no longer really interest me to the point where I want to spend days in the garage working on mine - can’t even find the desire to change my own oil lol), and I will primarily reside in the Ride sub-forum as there are a couple of guys on here with a wealth of knowledge and experience (Gundam, GenPatton, RocketPunch, etc.).
Picked up another 2013 Ninja 300 w/ 1,600 miles on it (don’t like the 2014 paint scheme) that came with a 5yr extended warranty from a dealer in Utica. Surprisingly, for more coverage, my insurance is LESS after the accident with Nationwide. They have earned a motorcycle insurance customer for life. I doubled virtually all of my coverage, kept $4k in additional parts coverage (to cover gear and accessories) and am paying $4/month less. If you feel you insurance is high, check out Nationwide.
Already have it modded to pretty much where my last one was with a few changes (and plans):
Went with a clear integrated tail this time as opposed to smoked for better visibilty
I went with red rim tape this time instead of white
I’m going full Yoshimura R-77 exhaust + tune this time which should get this bike from 34hp to 40hp (based on the dyno results of a rider in California). Also dropping two teeth on the rear sprocket which should make the bike nice and smooth althroughout the power band.
Will be a installing BKMoto Projector Retrofit on the bike. One of the small factors in my accident (along with inexperience, lack of warning via road sign and absurd amount of gravel/stone on the road) was lack of visibility due to CRAPPY halogen lighting. With the retrofit, I will have at my disposal dual bi-xenon projectors with a much brighter and wider beam pattern.
Looks good, I’ll be looking into nationwide without a doubt, after my crash I was only covered for 1k in gear, and I was wearing 3k in riding gear. Oh well, Ironic I went down right before I was going to switch. :laugh
Do they offer that Groupon every now and then? I would need to get a leather suit to ride there, no?
Also, yeah, definitely have the riding bug. I’m sure the first time I get out there again I may be a bit cautious of some turns due to possible lurking gravel but I’m sure I’ll get over that quick.
It took me a long ass time after my accident, and still anytime I get loose on gravel or tar snakes I get spooked for a few miles.
Its way harder crashing in the fall and not getting back on the bike till spring. I would have rather jumped back on immediately but I could hardly move my leg until snow was on the ground.
Yeah, cause you let that ‘fear’ (however big it may be) fester all winter long. I did ride my old bike up and down the driveway a few times before they took it away and I’ve ridden this one up and down a few times and even going over ice (on the new one) and feeling it slip just little bit I didn’t get any crazy anxiety or anything…hopefully commuting to work will take care of that before I go back up in the twisties. I plan to just take highways/local streets for a month or so before I start pushing it in the twisties again.
I let my dad ride my new one and that was much scarier than anything I’ve experienced on the bike including my accident (I don’t even really remember my accident or smacking my face into the pavement to be honest - I just remember the engine stalling and getting up off of all fours). He had a bike in Ukraine but my guess is it was a 125 or something cause he gave WAY too much throttle on the 300 and dropped the clutch. Luckily he didn’t wipe out. I was so worried he wasn’t going to wreck it lol.
Yeah, you’re gonna need a full suit. Go one piece never two.
I worry about nothing while riding. My theory is commit to the turn, you’re ether going to come through it or not. So you may as well be committed.
“once the throttle is cracked open the roll on is applied evenly & smoothly through out the remainder of the turn.” It’s been a long time since I read twist of the wrist two.:lol
Fear while riding, never really had it. Which makes me dangerous according to Kyle :lmao
