Your not supposed to do it, but if we all didn’t there wouldn’t be an industry.
This is why California will fine you on the road side for every mod without CARB identification. They do it, no where else really does.
It’s a grey area
Replacing your air filter with something else other than stock replacement is tampering with and emissions control device.
I have been here before in New Eras seat. It never feels good to be accused and to have only half the story out there.
All I can say is stick to your guns and if you have proof good for you. Going to technicians is like going to the doctor, you can’t fix it yourself but no one ever wants to pay the bills. Gotta love it when everyone wants something for nothing.
