I’m importing a '93 240SX from Arizona U.S. to Ontario Canada. The car is equipped with a passive restraint system, or motorized seat belt. I know at some point this system was outlawed Canada. I’ve looked through the Transport Canada web-pages to find a date when it was banned, but came up with nothing.
A clerk at the Canadian Tire auto service desk assured me that it would pass certification with this type of seat belt. However, he won’t be performing the inspection. Moreover, ask two people the same question and get 2 different answers.
Will I be okay with this configuration, or do I need to replace the front seat belts? Can anyone give me a straight answer on this?
BTW, this is not the first car I’ve imported. Just the first with a passive restraint system.
