In 1995 what was the car to have?

And your point?

They also cost way more in their time…

Also i could buy a stripper Mustang GT back then for less and kick the Mark VIII’s ass…

the zr1

^ Wow,what does he win folks?

What was it the ZR1 cost new in '95?

Price was not brought up in the original post, and it was one of the cars “to have” at that time.

Fits just fine.

^ Well i was thinking realistically for your avarage joe in '95.

FYI back in '95 i owned a 1984 olds cutlass supreme,good for 13’s in the 1/4.

I traded a 1989 Dodge Datona ES for it.The guy wanted a car that was better for his wife than his beefy Olds lol.I was quick to say “yeah i’ll trade”…

That Old’s got like 13 mpg lol.It could pass anything but a gas station…On a good day i might get 15 mpg.

Wait what? Weren’t the '80s cutlass supremes good for like 20s in the 1/4??

13s in the 1/8th sounds about right.

My Cutless was far from stock…that help?

well…seems like a heavy mustang favor, which cannot be argued, I still love a good 5.0. Since price was never brought up, I will take a crack at the list myself…

Skyline (obviously not something anyone would have easy access to)
NSX
Starion
Shadow turbo

Just wanted to throw a few out that hadn’t been mentioned, If I had to choose for myself id say GNX all the way. Hell even a 95 integra GSR would have been quick for those times id imagine.

In 95 I bought my first car. An '84 Monte Carlo with a 305. Thing was sick. Could almost spin the inside tire if i floored it on wet pavement while turning. Probably ran about 20s in the 1/4.

My vote would go for the Fox body in this instance. Hard to beat the performance for the price. GNs were faster but they were more $$ and a hell of a lot rarer.

Dude I am sure I know you from back then, lol. That car was owned by an asian kid named Danny Lee, iirc. It had GT40 heads/intake and a B303 cam. That pic was from '91 or '92. I know the girl you are talking about though. Hers was an automatic and slow as balls. She was pretty hot though, she has a brother named Mike. Her boyfriend at the time was some guy named Todd who had a red 5.0 GT with chrome pony wheels. When you say “industrial park” i’m assuming you mean just east of NFB between Sweet Home. We used to meet back behind one of the buildings with like 20-30 of us, arrange races and then line up down one of the straights and come back to the building.

My car in '95 looked exactly like this one:

I MAY have a pic of it if you ever took it to lancaster. What color was it? I remember a real nice green one that ran pretty good.

in 1993-1996 that was when my friends and i hung out and street raced every weekend night. In that time there was only a few really fast cars around,A green mustang named (pony express),and friend of mines 67 chevelle. There were a bunch of ok performance cars around but nothing you would be afraid to run from a light and worry about getting your ass handed to you.Nitrous was rarley seen on the streets, there was a few running it but not many.As for the imports they were no threat. So if you had a car running in the low 14s high 13s you were doing ok out on the streets. This was just my experance, elsewhere im sure it was different.

Pony Express was Tim’s! I remember when he raced Joe Kabalan and Joe’s driveshaft EXPLODED into 200 pieces! Sounded like an atomic bomb went off, lol.

RIP

Yep thats the industrial park i was talking about.Im sure we are talking about the same girl.I dont remember the camaro though, the only one i remember was a red iroc that had hoosier quick times running around.

Oh yes that was a fun night, after that happened everybody took off and the cops showed up,i helped joe get his car back home.He was pissed that he lost and ending up selling the car and buying a vette.Well he put the drivetrain into a 66 pontiac that he bought off my best friend and then sold it.

Yes that was sad news when we heard that tim had died,he was a really nice guy.

Um, no. I helped him. We drove to tops, bought some twine, went to his house got his Buick and I drove his Buick/towed his car with a makeshift twine-chain, lol. We never saw the cops.
