Just curious what you guys think, I am partial to Honda any thing B or K, were taking reliability, cost of maintenance, reliability of parts, cost of aftermarket parts, weight, power, etc. just wondering if you had a light weight car and had to swap a 4 cyl. in there what would you choose? DOHC OR SOHC VTAK or ZTAK anything goes.
so im guessing you mean production car 4 cylinder then
4G63
Yeah, anything you could get on a regular basis or mildly different. I was looking into vtec minins and was thinking if there was something better for that car, I know Hondas and that would be easy so maybe a different route. the only thing is they make kits for B series for them. Anyway, i would like to know what other people would rock, I personally wont buy any car unless its a Honda, because I know them so well and they are soooo easy to fix. i tell my family to buy a used Honda anytime any of them are looking. I personally think they are the best DD’s, for cost of maintenance and reliability. Its my personal opinion but I would rather work on a 96 civic the an 96 ford escort any day.
my 99 neon is by far the easiest car to work on.
i have the 2.2 SOHC and its cake.
ummmm you mean 2.0L neon…
i cant pick just one…
you cant deny the power thats coming out of 4g63 plants these days.
but then i am a dodge man and you also cant deny the power coming out of 2.4L SRT powerplants either.
but im also an oldschool turbododge guy 4L so im going to have to vote for the 2.2L chrysler turbo motor. not too many engines that originally made 82hp stock that can also handle 1000hp with a reasonable amount of mods.

You can swap any motor into any car with enough money nowadays. I guess it would depend on a lot of things. Will the car be NA or turbo? FWD, RWD, or AWD??
Without knowing the answers to any of these questions I would say 4G63 or B or K series Honda.
sr20, 4g63, aeb1.8t, srt4 2.4t, k20 all great engines
k20a2
those 4 cyl jeep motors take a serious beating
Glad we agree
M42 for a DD.
no doubt about it, can make great power na and handle 500hp stock block all day (and still get great gas mileage 30mpg +)
Iron Duke. Worked well in cars and in boats.
no sr20det love?
Omg duhhh!!! 1.8T HAND OF GOD MOTOR1!!!11!!!
Everyone knows that nothing beats a 1.8t.
4G63
AHU
I would toss between the SRT-4 2.4L motor, or the 4g63. Since the 4g63 is made for AWD, I would take that route. It’s one hell of a motor, the shitty old 90’s 4g63 motors go 10’s with stock internals, the Evo motor makes stupid power with the stock internals, going even lower 10’s. They have the rev’s of a honda with the power of a real car
