Opinions are like A$$holes we all got em.

What other then the aircooled VW is the greatest 4cyl of all time?
(P.S 4g63 is a close second 1973-present)
I would have to say the K20 is my vote.

s2k motor puts out pretty good HP for its size

k20 hoovers my cock

ecotec series mainly the new one thats a 2.0 vvt direct injection turbo intercooled 260hp it has loads of potential

Honda B-series. I’m sure the K will surpass it with time.

x2

yeah k20 is overrated

no love to the 4AGE or the SR20DET?
how bout the motor out of the Escort Cosworth…don’t know the code?

F20C 690 hp stock s2000 motor with 30 psi on a T-76
need i say more?

we know you LOVE your cobalt but come on…be realistic…he said of all-time :slap:

k20 is overrated :eek3:

I agree 4age is excellent…Sr isn’t too bad where is the 3sgte love?

I’m not sure there has ever been a 4 banger that has been able to produce the numbers both NA and boosted as the honda B-series has. The 4g63 and SR20det are great boosted motors. What kind of HP/Tq numbers do the the aircooled VW motors put out? I know they fly but kinda hard not to go fast in a rwd grocery cart.

The K has already surpassed the B (even though I am a B fan)

The Aircooled VW are not amazing power motors (from the factory) they just dont break down and are still produced in certain parts of the world thats what 70+ years. Consistency is key (so is spelling)

you can boost just about any motor. lets talk NA power here

i remember there being a 2.3 quad that produced soem decent power. it was somewhere late 80s early 90s. something like 230hp stock

i do love my cobalt ss but, this engine is not in the cobalt its in the new solstice. So you seriously dont think the ecotec deserves to be up in here after all the power its been seen to make? the 2.2 ecotec is making 1400hp in the nopi ecko drag cobalt. i think its just that no one really knows about them too much yet. everyone knows the 3sgte and 4g63 and k series but do your research on the ecotec block and an average enthusiest would be impressed.

why are the domestic guys in the import thread ?

well its where the cobalt fits in most since there should be a section for sport compacts so we wouldnt have to leave the american tuners out of the ring since most of us are into imports as well

I’m pretty sure honda owns the records for highest specific power output for 4 banger production engines. S2000 - 240hp 2 liter, ITR - 195hp 1.8, CTR 185 hp 1.6 liter (maybe 180hp, forget off top of my head), JDM K20R 220 hp 2.0 liter. Modified B-motors have put down 250+ hp on 2 liters and the new K series is going around 300hp out of 2.2-2.4+ liter set-ups

the ecotec is probably the best 4 cylinder that’s came out of america, but i think you’re jumping the gun a little to put it in a category with the honda dual cams or the 4g63.

well i thought adding ther ecotec into the mix was appropriate seeing as how the ecotec cobalt surpassed the honda civic on the salt flats for the top speed record i think its 210mph for the cobalt which holds 1st place and 197 mph for the civic which holds 2nd place…

lets speak NA motors.

ecotec is a great potenial motor.
and GM did build tht 2.3 that produced the power. and i think that was before honda did theirs

wait a second to say K series is overrated is retarded. Its still expensive, but its has already surpassed the B-series for really years now. Stock for stock k20a > b18c5 hands down. K is still pretty much in its infancy as far as built setups go, but still are making more power than B’s which have been around for over 15 years.
