The Stock K20a compared to a stock b18c5 produces higher numbers in large part due to the displacment advantage. K20’s with cams and bolt on’s produce similar hp numbers as comparable 2.0 liter b-series motors. The big advantage to the K is that everything is bigger, potential to go safely to 90mm bore compare to 86mm or so on the B and the K24 block with greater deck height makes the 99mm stroke have a decent rod/stroke ratio. An extreme, stroked b-series 86x95 is nothing compared to a stock k24 (87x99). The new variable cam timing on the K-series is where a lot of power is still to be found, just as on the MIVEC system on the new EVOS.

I agree that the K is a great motor, but we’re talking best of all time. The B has proven itself over the 15 years or so in production. I’m sure the K will phase the B out in a few years, but the B will still be the block that opened the doors. It was the block that opened up the aftermarket for the four cylinder.

The honda b18c5 or the JDM b18c is a marvel of N/A technology. although I’m pretty sure the s2000 is the highest hp/liter 4 cyl evar.

what kind of crack are you smoking. K series all motor cars are mean but they in no way surpass the B18C5 here in the US. when you can point out a stock K powered car running mid 14’s bone stock then we can say it is better

Honda motors in 6’s? have you ever heard of the HART civic or the AEM civic?

put it this way there is NOT one street DSM right now that can consistantly make mid 9 second passes. let us also not forget that those motors are 2.4L compared to the hondas B series max of 2L

Also Correct me if i am wrong put this post is about 4cylinders so your AEM is out of the picture and i have yet to hear of the Hart (4cylinder) civic in the 6s.

Nice…I like my honda too bro, but I don’t think there motors are the best…nor do I think any other(DSM, Nissan, def. not toyota) are any better than them. I’m sure the top dogs of each manufactorer is very comparible.
