Because most of them use lower compression, a lot of them are still Mass Air cars, which is also a big restriction. Tuning software also has a lot to do with it. Most DSM guys settle on DSMlinks, Eprom tunes, AFC’s and other ECU “bandaids” if you will. And yes, the AWDrivetrain loss doesnt help either.
honda’s dont’ run 7.8:1 compression
until you build a dsm that’s faster than all those bandaid cars you really can’t say anything.

aem makes plugnplay for the evo so u would think that they would for dsm

you would be suprised at how high compression is on the faster DSM cars. I believe the AMS cars are around 9:1. Mass Air is a restriction as is AWD but not a 200whp restriction. fact is that DSM motors are stout from the factory since they are iron but the other stuff that fails inside the motor is what makes them unreliable. you have to look at head design when you start comparing HP at XXX boost. much like your 240, it couldn’t make any more power on those stock cams because it couldn’t breathe anymore, you swaped cams and picked up 50hp at the same boost level.
If we are talking motor design I would say the most efficient head is goin to be from honda cams and all. now on the bottom end side the 4g63 and SR20 are goin to be on top of the list.
