In your opinion whats the Best 4 cyl. engine out there?

Well, it’s a good motor, no doubt, but you have to benchmark it somehow. If it makes similar power to a 4g63 and has worse track numbers, I don’t know what to say

I guess I have to lump the chassis in with the engine to make it a true judgment, or else you could go with almost any modern engine.

fwd k20 > fwd 4g63 dsm all day. there, we settled it.

hondas suck

lol they may suck as far as hooking up, but their motors are undeniable

4g63 is a great turbo motor no doubt, but the k20/24 are awesome all motor and turbo

k20+35r+eg hatch=low 10’s all day on slicks

LNF

Somebody should do it  That’s a cheap 10 second car if that’s the case!

LSJ

LSJ < LNF Only problem modding the LSJ is much easier with Port injection. LNF block and pistons are better.

there are plenty of them out there, but thats like me saying i dont see 10 second street dsm’s… i dont look for them and im not interested in them so how would i see it? do ya get what im saying? if your not looking for something you wont see it

Ls1 block chopped in half.

LOL

I honestly wonder what GM could do with a push rod inline 4 lol.

F20c, most horsepower per litter on a N/A, 4 cylinder engine.

They did a long time ago. Actually that is the motor in Dans Cavi build on here.

Hahaha, " I don know this cocksucker dragged me down here."

:word:
I’ll say the right bank of an LS9.

The GM quad-4 J/K I know that these had potential but GM bean counters ruined it like they ruin everything GM makes.

I have owned the legendary VW ALH TDI and now own a K20Z3. It’s hard to choose which is better because they are so different and have really different tasks. I really like the fact that my Honda has timing chains that require nearly no maintenance. It also doesn’t require expensive synthetic oil. On the other hand, the TDI is cheap on fuel, and it responds well to minor mods.

If we are talking about longevity I’m going to go with the Mercedes OM616

The K series is a much newer design then the 4g63. I guess you could throw the 4b11 in there also.

Define what makes a good 4 cylinder - power, reliability, cost, platform, aftermarket, etc.

I am biased towards the 4g63.

Best stock motors N/A - K20 and F20/F22

Best Stock motors F/I - LSJ Super and turbo charged. For a mini I would choose a LSJ S/C Just because of the cost/performance ratio. Combined with a tranny designed for road racing and a beefy power band this motor is a winner in my book.

4g63 and the b series are legends for a reason.
