Increased Ethanol E85 Production Could Cause More Harm then Good

Very interesting article expanding on the many consequences of using more Ethanol or E85 with gasoline. I really wasnt aware of the HUGE problems this could cause. After reading this it doesnt seem like such a great idea anymore.

The natural 105 octane of E85 on pump sounds like a great idea… Its like cheap race gas… Lets just roll with it…

good read

One thing that wasn’t addressed in the ecological concerns was the expanding of deserts. Much like what happened in the late 20s in the midwest. The term the “dust bowl” was created when farmers did not alternate their crops year to year and stripped the soil of any remaining nutrients leaving it nothing and useless.

I can see this being a huge problem with Corporate farms wanting to squeeze every last dollar out of their land. The land will suffer at the ability to make a buck.

You can’t get something for nothing.

We should find away to make Solar energy more efficient.

Everything has trade offs

The only thing I don’t agree with this chart is the loss of solar energy that isn’t otherwise being used.
