Inspection advice?

fuck the cracked frame theres worse on the road than that

where’s it say cracked frame?
if you’re actually driving around a car with a fucked up frame you get a huge :fail: :picard: :danny:

Your logic has to be the best. Don’t you inspect cars and were offering to do them for anyone on the site? Exactly the type of person I want checking my car out.

Just because there are “black” people on the “eastside” with all these so called “stickers”, doesnt mean its right to go out and get one. For being someone who does this for a living, you sure aren’t very smart.

i know him outside of the internet, the car has a cracked frame, the back doors are welded shut from an accident, the thing is a death trap and falling apart, i have never seen such a pile of shit. Idk why this is even being discussed it should be junked.

lol broke azz homez

Oh look at that. I put 2 and 2 together and got 4.

I got 22 :frowning:

plenty of cars can be had for 750 or less, junk the pile and replace it.

Oh, there is no denying that the car is an utter pile of shit. MY comment was directed at the asshole correcting grammar, and now i will extend it to you for yet another snide comment.

This asshole knows the difference between site and sight. My comment was more a humor factor than an asshole factor, but since you have taken it there, I’ll be an asshole.

Dialed Whine one one…

Is red tape on a tail light passable? Serious question- mine had a run-in with my fist one day when the hatch wouldn’t open and I red-taped it up good. The tails are pretty hard to get. This thread makes me feel better about my beater lol.

A friend of mine is a NY inspector, we had a taillight with a crack running the entire length of it, that the previous owner had glued it back together.

He said that was no good, but he would pass it anyway but others should not pass it.

I responded by buying a junkyard tail light instead of having to mess with it at inspection time next year.

Honestly though, its the sad truth but if you go and drive around the ghetto most of the cars I have no idea how they get inspection stickers put on them. Bald tires down to the metal in the middle of winter, cracked windshields, no exhaust. I have no idea how these ghetto pieces of shit stay on the road when I had to get rid of a 2001 dodge neon that was a perfect running car for some rust on the frame.

NY is tying the inspection to the registration now, so you can’t renew your plates unless you have a valid inspection on file in the computer. I guess you could get around this if you buy a new piece of shit every year, but don’t plan on renewing the plates if you have a swapped sticker on it.

I have bought used cars in the past and just left the previous owners inspection sticker on it. I wouldn’t worry too much about that no matter what anyone on here says I have done it half a dozen times at least. When you pay for the inspection, you get 12 months of use out of it. Anything more is just crap written in the law to extract more money out of your pocket.

The crack in the frame is about 1/2 - 3/4" long.

And I know what you guys are talking about, I saw an old sable driving down East Delevan, looked like someone had shot a cannonball up the drivers side, starting with the headlight and bumper and ending about halfway up the fender. Bungee cord was holding the bumper up. Back passenger side window was made out of a clear garbage bag. The car had a 2011 inspection sticker. No fucking idea how it passed.

The 3 options I see are:
-Pay 400 bucks to get the tempo to pass completely
-Pay 100 bucks to fix the lights and tire and hope it squeaks by
-Junk the tempo for 200 bucks and try to find a beater that’ll pass no problem.

So you guys are saying that I can buy a new beater, and if the current inspection sticker is good until july of 2010, I wont have to have it inspected until the current one runs out? Even though its being registered with a new owner?

http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/broch/c-50.htm

and I remember reading somewhere that it cannot have any visible white light through a crack

I dont know the exact varible, but bring the inspection reciept to the dmv when you go to register the car.

they will tell you if it needs to be re inspected.

Inspections arent a big deal, very simple to pass, expecially on a non obd2 car.

One of my BMWs failed inspection today for ‘discoloration/fadin around the edge of the mirrors.’ NOT LIKE YOU CANT SEE OUT THE DAMN THING!

Show my a 16 year old car who’s mirrors are fucking mint please.

/rant.

The oil change places tend to be lenient because the guy making $8 an hour doesn’t give a shit.

I was an inspector a up to a few years ago. There are a few things you can do. About your inspection question, when you buy a new car no matter when the car was inspected the new owner needs to reinspect the vehicle. thats ny state. The car could have been inspected the day before it was sold and they still want you to reinspect it. But Because the inspection sticker number gets logged by the vin number if it is not reinspected it is rarely caught and not like 1 in 100 rarely but more like 1 in 100000000000.
About your current car there is a few thing also you could do. Yes it is a good idea that you go to one of those oil change places to get the inspection for the simple fact that you can talk to them while they are doing it and distract them. Any cracked lights though you will want to get fixed because those are easily noticeable and it wont even make it in the building. Also you will want to get the e brake fixed because the inspector pulls the car in the building first thing and right off the bat they check the e brake so that will be a failure right away. Also about the cracked light I knew someone who had a similar situation and a cop saw that he had a cracked light and an over due sticker. The cop waited till the person got the car illegally inspect and went after the owner of car and the shop as well, because if you know something is a failure on the car and you get it passed the owner is also held accountable as well. but if you fix the lights and the e brake once they pull the car in the shop you can usually talk to them and just shoot the shit and you can get them distracted enough not to look underneath the car and notice the cracked frame. And the balljoints are not failable but they can usually find another component that will fail that loosened up due to the loose ball joint. just some advice for you. but if you go down to the east side and buy a sticker which is pretty easy, you will get caught because the dmv will eventually notice that the vehicle has not a sticker registered to the vin in over a year and will then look into it and can issue a fine up to $2k.

So you’re saying if i take the car to a little po-dunk run down shop in the ghetto, and they pass the car, it wont show up in the dmv’s records? I’m not lookin to buy a sticker illegally, im just lookin for a shop that won’t give a shit about the chip in the frame or the e-brake (not even completely gone, just not as strong as it used to be. e-brake light still comes on and everything). I only need the car for a couple more months, until winter has pretty much died off and I dont have to worry about snow. I planned on junkin it this summer and getting a new beater anyway. As long as i fix the lights and the dead giveaway inspection failures are fixed, its not like i have to bring the car to court for them to double check. All I have to bring are the receipts for the lights i replaced and the inspection.

The ebrake doesnt have to engage and be able to do siq drifts with it on dry pavement
Mine wouldnt even hold my car if it was on a slight incline if my car was in neutral lol, but it would still engage

if u get a new car you will have to pay for registration/taxes again too… i would just keep this car and fix the lights and 1 tire
