You did read not counting payroll and utilities right? lol
Every business operates differently go look at the way things work flat rate at a dealership everyone involved makes more money selling services on cars then actually repairing them.
Inspections work great with the model those oil change places use of up selling services(tranny flush, oil flush, etc) they make very little profit on oil changes.
Sees Onyx posted in thread, looks…yup, Krant is banned. Lmao.
Does this suck? yes. Is my time spent fighting it worth more than the cost of a wiper blade? you bet. I’d just replace the blade, send them a letter explaining why you’ll never do business with them again, and then go about living your life.
Kinda related story, my sister needed her oil changed and she said shes has gone to MR.Tire on seneca before and might take it back. I told her I would do it but I couldn’t at the time, she wanted it done now. So she takes it there and the guy tells her that the coupon she printed($21.99 standard oil change) wasn’t gonna work because her car called for semi synth. I told her to not let them talk you into wipers, air filter, brakes, blow jobs, etc. They changed it with semi syn blend. She texted me this and I was pissed. After she left i called and ask why you told my sister she needed semi syn. The guy said her car called for it. Her car is a 09 Cobalt LT, I told him no it doesn’t 2011 and turbos require it. He then tells me he had it in the computer wrong as a 2010, he says “ohhhh, I have her car in our computer as a 2010, let me change that and give her a free oil change next time.”
I called her back and asked her what the receipt said her car was, its says 2009 Chevy Cobalt. The fucking scumbag lied to me and her. I called corporate and they were dicks as well. Anyway, your better off not taking it these shitty places and doing it yourself.
The best thing you can do, other than never going there again, is spread the word. On that note, Hamburg Auto Center, is another place to avoid for inspections. They offered free NYSI, which meant you automatically needed pads on rotors on all 4 corners and the car was “unsafe to drive”. Everything was near-new, except the rear pads, which still had enough life to pass per NYSI guidelines.
I went with my friend at the time (girl) to mr. tire because she had a coupon to change her oil and get an inspection or some shit. so we’re sitting around in the waiting room and the “tech” comes out and tells her that she needs a new exhaust, they look up the price of the exhaust and they tell her it would be like 1600$ for the exhaust and 2200$ total. Their reasoning was “the exhaust was not properly fitted and had missing parts. this resulted in the engine losing all compression so this needs to be replaced asap”
it had no exhaust leaks, no check engine lights, nothing. we went to autozone and i changed her oil in her driveway and went to somewhere where i knew someone for an inspection.
I’ll never go there for anything again
I went to derby quick lube (idk what it’s called, it’s on rt5 in derby next to pasquales)
dropped off my cavalier, went back later. i went there and they told me i needed new wiper blades. They weren’t going to fail me for them, but they would recommend changing them before winter time. i knew they were shitty anyways so i paid them for the blades.
It probably was not even offensive. It probably said something like I disagree with your decision to go to delta sonic for inspections but I do respect your right to go there.
If you’re paying my paycheck, my tech, the cost of oil disposal, the cost of filter recycling, the air compressor, the lift the electrical bill. Average chain store maintains a 80%gp to be successful. The average mom and pop store averages 50 60% well if you want to stay alive. Obviously you make that on mechanical work and not tires and oil changes.
They handle complaints well,my dad was compensated for ball joints after he found out they were never greased, they were serviceable and with every oil change they are supposed to lube the chassis.
