Insurance company reviews

I have geico. I have has it for 10 years. Every time I’ve had an accident (which has been once for me, and recently my wife rear ended someone) they have been great. Every time I call I speak to a MERICAN which is nice

Idk. I’ve just never had any reason to switch, or even shop around for that matter

I had progresive for years. I was hit by a woman (turn left into the side of my car) with allstate. allstate started giving me a hard time so I turned to progressive to see if my insurance would help. they did not. it was like pulling teeth to get anything done. I ended up being in a rental Silverado (12 mpg) while I waited for them to decide what to do with my TDI (45mpg) for 2.5 months. then imidiatly after progressive dropped me. ( 1 claim in 5 years and i was not at fault)

I have have been with Geico from that time, my father in-law drove my TDI into a guardrail on the 400 and totaled it. Geico was super awesome to deal with. 3 weeks later a deer ran into my other tdi while my wife was driving again no questions ask super awesome to deal with. it would take more then 60$ a month to make me move back to progressive.

I have Geico and am very happy with them. They are always easy to get a hold of and the price usually can’t be beat. Before Geico I had Esurance and they were good (no complaints) but the price was creeping up and I switched to Geico and saved a bunch of money. The only company I had a bad experience with was Farmers, they were awful, just awful. Farmers was unprofessional, overpriced, and a hassle for the one claim I had.

I loved State Farm when I had them. Their pre-approved body shops allowed you to smack up your car, take it to the body shop and they’d just start doing the work. No waiting for an appraisal and they’d replace any aftermarket parts as long as I showed them a receipt. I’m not sure if they still do this because I switched to Geico years ago. One of my brothers still shared a home address with me and had a TERRIBLE record so they dropped him… and everyone else in our family because of him, lol.

Geico has been good, not as good as my experience with State Farm but he price keeps going up. I need to remind myself to call @BOBBYGRV when my current policy is up.

interesting… Statefarm just sold their Canadian business and none of the others here other than Allstate write up in Canada. Allstate isnt even a top 10 player in any market either.

in general, since i’ve worked in the auto claims industry for a while, brokers certainly do add a layer of service that can be invaluable for a complex book of business to make sure you are properly covered and to support you through a complex claim.

I’ve been on the claims’ side with broker driven insurers where the broker really pushes their clients’ agenda to get what that client could not have achieved otherwise. Moreover, i’ve seen huge losses that could not have been navigated without a broker.

On the flipside, i’ve also seen losses where the broker made big mistakes and forgot to apply coverage to a business that experienced a heavy 6 figure loss. Fortunately brokers up here are required to have their own insurance for coverage or policy errors. I saw 2 losses that needed to use that broker insurance in the last 18 months in fact.

At the moment i use a direct writer for my personal stuff but we use a broker for our business stuff. We’re a very large account for the broker and they are exceptionally responsive at times.

if you have a large fleet of cars and other assets you really need to have a good broker that is not a captive agent (can only sell one company’s policies). Sounds like @BOBBYGRV is in a good position as a bunch of us accumulate cool shit.

ive bounced around between Geico, Progressive and Esurance.

ill usually stick with a company until i see my rates start to creep after a few years then im on to the next juan…

I’ve only been on my own insurance for 2 years thru geico and they were the cheapest by far. Though i have never had to make a claim, they have always faxed my insurance to the dmv/whereever it needed to be within minutes of calling. And they’re 24/7. if i had some long list of things that needed to be insured i can see where it would make sense to go thru a broker/agent

their multi policy discount makes things super cheap

I’ve been with Geico over 15 years. Got into an accident not involved with any other car. They took care everything and said that since I’ve been without an accident for so long, they give the accident forgiveness, blah blah. they said my rate wont increase :), after couple months, they increased my rate. So I switch to Progressive and got cheaper rate. Plus using the snapshot to get more discount.

GEICO /thread

I used all-state through a local agent when I first received my license, on my own plan. About a year later, I switched to progressive because the rates were better (direct, online). A year after that I looked at Geico, and again the rates were better so I switched. Now I’ve been with Geico for about 2 years now and no complaints. That being said, I just ran a quote from Progressive direct and was quoted about $50 less per month than my current Geico rate with the same coverage.

I’ll be giving Geico a call today to see if their is anything they can do for me.

Switched from 10+ years of Statefarm to Auto-Owners more coverage and close to a grand less on my 2 cars. Michigan no fault and the fact Statefarm doesn’t like my zip code or the V for risk rating.
