I’ve been with State Farm for the past 10 years or so and my bill came in a bit high so I am shopping for a new carrier. Anyone have any views on the other carriers, good or bad?
testicle
geico was the cheapest for me. customer service sucks but im down for cheap lol.
absolute rock bottom was unitrin, but i couldn’t imagine their service being very good in regards to claims. i have geico atm and they are pretty inexpensive, but i’m generally dissatisfied with them. having someone hook you up is the key, perhaps testicle is the answer.
matt… i was with state farm for years. Went to allstate and my rate when down quite a bit
testicle.
I rolled with the gecko for quite a while, but testicle was recently able to quote me a policy that was right inline with the lizard.
i have it through testicle too
Testicle doesn’t work there anymore but maybe he can hook you up with someone he used to work with. But All State is by far the lowest i’ve found.
lol. testicle.
so thats why my agent changed…
anyways, yea i like the service / cost with them. i pinged my agent a bunch of times via phone and email when i got my new car. always seemed happy to talk, always had time for me. the whole process in dealing with my accident with them was pretty painless, although its my only accident so i have nothing to compare it to.
I got an agent that can hook me up, I just wanted to get opinions on carriers and what “gotcha’s” are out there for each if any.
Geico for ~6 yrs, not a hitch
Progressive for ~4 yrs, Hit a Viper with my GrCher; hit an Accord with my GrAm (in ohio). Everthiny went flawlessly.
Haven’t any points on the license in nearly a decade, so I can’t speak the reflection in price.
I change up at least one car a year for the last ~7 yrs, I like geicos online process much better then Progressives - but its been years and I imagine the Prog. site had been redone by now.
Try an independent agent. Should be free to have them put together a couple of options for you. Scroll about halfway down to #3 to read a bit about why a local agent can be a good idea.
If you want an honest agency, I’d recommend Emerling Insurance on Main about mile east of Transit. My Mom has known the owners a long time, you know since they’re her brothers. It’s my Uncles’ agency. Several of my cousins are agents there too.
They have my wife and I with Progressive. It’s not the cheapest, but we’ve had to file a couple of ~$5k claims over the last 3 years and Progressive is the best at paying their claims. My policy renews soon. I should call them and see if there are any cheaper options worth considering…
So do I have to be long-lost Cletus Fry to get the hookup? I can use my southern accent and claim my name was changed to avoid redneck persecution.
Is that your nickname or something? How about Billybob Fry or BillyRay Fry?
allstate ftw
You can try an independent agent but the one I was with for years flat out told me he was not going to be able to touch the rate Geico gave me. They didn’t, he was just higher.
My allstate agent (homeowners policy) told me he thought Geico made a mistake on my rate because it was so much lower than what he came up with.
I have two good friends who have been in accidents with Geico and the process went perfectly.
Recently I bumped up some of my coverages and once I figured out what I wanted it was a simple 2 minute change on the website.
Geico was my lowest by about 150 every 6 months…I had Statefarm for a few years and I was getting nice discounts with mutliple policies and household policy stuff…they still couldnt touch Geico.
I really like Allstate and my agent (Michael Dearing) been really good to me and my family. For my and fiance’s two cars Geico wasn’t much cheaper.
For my 08 Saturn Vue AWD and my 08 Subbie Impreza we pay 828 every 6 months roughly. That is factoring in discounts out the ass since i have been under Allstate since i was 15. I also have my home owners through them at 474 a month. Both policies have all the extra’s and I am covered quite well. Geico so far hasn’t been low enough for me to leave the convience of having a agent versus a 1-800 shop.
