Insurance Thoughts - Poll.

18 years old.
G2, clean record, defensive driving school certificate
full coverage insurance.

~$2000+ a year (i dont remember all the details)

yay for being a 2nd driver! (that 2000 is obviously for both the 1st and 2nd drivers.)

20, G2…
I’m actually putting insurance on my winter beater 89 civic tomorrow for $500/month.
2 tickets…
1 canceled policy (does this affect how much it is too?)

I going with RBC insurance, anybody know any other place for cheaper insurance cause i sure as hell cant find one.

lmfao! did anyone else catch onto that?

at $500 a month i’ll laugh in the cops face at the $5000 fine when i have no insurance to show.

insurance companies dont deserve the premiums considering that the service is so $hit. they’ll do everything to avoid paying premiums.[/quote]

my college studies cases and have had many visits to traffic court to do sit ins… and let me tell you by law the minimum for first time offenders is $5000 after that its $10000 but guess what?

The Justice almost never gives the full amount they are the most reasonable people you could met, take the guilty plea IN FRONT of him (dont waste his or the courts time) and stress that your having finacial difficulties (struggling student, kids, whatever) any you’ll be paying in the $2000 range maybe less, and they even give you the option to pay a certain amount monthly if you ask the justice.

Not incouraging anyone to drive without insurance, just sharing my knowledge in this area.

I cant believe how many people are paying $400+!!! Thats blowing my mind right now.

Anyway, I pay $160/mo for full coverage and lowest deductable. I’m 22, still have my G2 - clean record.

For minimum coverage I was quoted $115/mo. This is all for my '93 S13 btw.

I don’t get it, I thought I was getting raped and it looks like my rates are pretty good in comparison.

Oh, this is with State Farm and I’m the Primary (and only) Driver.

Actually, I just added another car to my policy (winter beater) so it probably went down even more… i’ll need to check.

:eek3: I did!

Oh Nutta, such a nut!

Derek, you have me beat! I’ve been trying to get my insurance lowered but for the $10/mo i’d rather stay with my broker.

I’m 25, 91 S13 $1080/year $90/mo no collision

ditto, only i’m 19. just under 2000 a year.

Call Bel Air Direct. I’m 20, Full G, one collision, at fault and I pay 330/mth liability & fire/theft.

im gonna have to find a new company

im getting fuckin owned…

435 a month for minimum coverage

GT

wow i dont feel so bad anymore.

20 years old, full G
$240 (weird i just noticed that lol) a month.
clean record, but i have a ticket for 15 over so when it renews its gonna go up.

For those of you getting owned by insurance, try looking for a company that does group rates.

i.e. The Personal, Meloche Monnex. The group rates are for various groups. You can look online with Meloche to see if you part of the group.

I’m with Meloche Monnex. through U of T alumni.

Over 25.
I’m paying $124 a month for everything.
Primary Driver

i think my living in aurora has a lot of affect on it as well.
Its not known for street racing and ricers. Just ol school muscle car

whoever is a second driver means u dont own your car nd ur parents can call it in stolen if ur past ur curfew! lol

i guess that means my daddy owns a 88 silvia k’s hahaha

no you cant.

GT

you suck at life

I used to pay out of the ass, in '99, I was 21 and paying $390 per month on my zenki s14 (that is $4680/year)

Now:

27 years old
Full coverage
6 star driver
multicar discount (winter beater)
Drivers ed discount (still heh)
Non daily driver (have company vehicle)

$109/month or 1300/year
My winter beater is $37 a month (with only Liab, fire, theft) and now that the 240 is off the road, it costs me $10 a month for fire and theft.

I am with State Farm, they are GREAT! My broker calls me up whenever there is a deal to be had. (She should, between my parents and I, we have over 10 cars currently registered).

So, she calls me up one day and says: “Theo, we have a deal that can reduce your insurance by 15%. Since you already have your car and house insurance with us, if you make it 3 different types of insurance, you get teh discount. So, if you take out a life insurance plan with us, even for the minimum of $25G coverage, you will save 15% on all of your insurance policies only costing you $7 a month.”

I said ok, and thanks. Plus, when I have an accident (total loss twice that they know of) I walk in there and they take care of me 100%! They have a rental car dropped off for me while I am filling out the papersand so on and so forth.

It’s all about the broker.

Of coarse I still think they are a rip off, but don’t have the strongest case for this.
