Insurance

Colin,
Funny thing, this just crossed my radar as I was renewing my policy last week.

They won’t cancel your insurance, they just won’t buy you a new spoiler if you wrap your old one around a cone.

However, your whole policy is suspended when you’re drunk, racing, or doing illegal things. Racing is the only one that concerns me, but consider what happens if you lose it on a corner on track day. This time, instead of sliding into the long grass and driving out - pride slightly wounded - you slide into ‘Buddy’ whose standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Your carrier won’t cover third party liability in this case. Buddy would have signed a waiver, but things could still get ugly I think…

I know the club carries insurance, but I’m not sure if that shields drivers from 3rd party claims.

Does anyone else know?

Dan

I believe the track day insurance only covers the people holding the events and the paid/registerd participants. But i am pulling that out of my ass. Aaron should know

100% CORRECT IF YOU DIDN’T DISCLOSE IT ENTIRE ACCIDENT GETS DENIED. SO WHATEVER THEY PAY TO FIX 3RD PARTY WILL BE BILLED TO YOU.

ALL THIS REPLIES ABOVE HOW THEY JUST WON’T BUY YOU A NEW TURBO ARE 100% BS, DON’T BELIVE ME “GOOD” I DON’T CARE . BUT WAIT TILL YOU HIT SOMEONE AND ADJUSTER ASKS YOU TO POP UR HOOD AFTERWORDS, THAN ALL OF SUDDEN YOU’LL REMAMBER THAT SOMEONE HERE WARNED YOU.
PS: PEOPLE GET AWAY WITH STUFF, LIKE IF BOTH CARS ARE DRIVABLE AFTER THE ACCIDENT THEY MAY NEVER ASK TO LOOK AT UR CAR. THEY WILL JUST WANT TO SEE DAMAGES YOU DID TO WHOEVER YOU HIT.[/quote]

Got Caps Lock?

Orly. I bet that his coverage is voided now anyways. Something as big as a turbo would in most cases deny your coverage. I would have asked the insurer if they allow these modifications, it is usually a slight increase in your rate.

I am not even going to comment and provoke an argument with some of you but…

With respect to track day its like an oilers game… read the back of your ticket for liability exclusions you agree 2 by attending the venue.Damages by: sticks , pucks , broken glass etc etc aren’t covered attend at your own risk and enjoy.
So the policy track itself carries is more of general commercial liability package that covers shiet that never happens.

Its funny how liabilty works in other contries. I was in Ukraine last winter and my buddy nailed a pedestrian in the middle of the traffic. Dude tried to cross where he isn’t supose to, so as soon as we hit the dude he got up and run … My friend was gonna chase him , i was lets get the fuck out of here before you get screwed. He on the other hand was:“i ididn’t do anything wrong that asshole run across and now i got a dented fender.”, apparently pedestrian was liable in those casses there vs Canada.
Our law states “due care” so you supose to try to avoid even if they are wrong doing , otherwise you get suied. Damn in Canada before giving CPR to someone you supose to ask :“can i help you?” or when he recovers you might get a court date to attend .

But someone should check with the track here see whats they cover if anything.

Why were you in Ukraine?

wow i never knew guys in cardiac arrest could talk? canada is impressive people over here can talk while they have no pulse.
heh heh just fuckin with ya, . but thats called implied consent and if he is in cardiac arrest you are covered under the emergency medical aid act. haha off topic but i coudlnt help but correct

Talked to my insurance guy. Only gonna be 600$ more a year with the turbo and all that shit being covered. 50$ more a month. Not too bad.

Any specifics on ‘shiet that never happens’?

Thx,
Dan

Get someone here to call the track and ask them whats covered with respect to liability. I myself never insured such a risk, i do retail commmercial and contractors liability 90% of the time.
Shiet that never happens generally would be: you slip you fall they didn’t put up wet floor signs . Or if roof/gate colapses and falls on your car . I dunno basicly unussual stuff. etc

Smart man. Don’t get fucked.

Aaron confirms that you’re on your own with your car, but anyone who signs the waiver is covered for damages.

You still don’t wanna clip Buddy - you have to fill out so many forms…

Dan

Who are all of you turbo guys using for insurance.

I am with a residual of Morgex. I am 26, 1 ticket, SR and modified 240 $1750 a year. They were good to me last year, but pissed me off this year. Far too many hoops to jump through on their behalf. I told them about the turbo, and so pay 500 more each year. I pretty much took the opinion that if they did not ask, I was not going to volunteer the info, but they asked so I fessed up.

I got denied by 2 other companies I tried first.
