interior paint

I’m gonna be installing a double din into my sti and have been debating painting the center sections black. Anyone have a good recommendation for what kinda plastic paint to use?

Rustoleum just came out with an interior paint and its actually really good. It comes out black instead of the duplicolor vinyl/fabric paint that was more of a greyish black. Just degrease the part real well and paint it in warm temps and its real easy to apply. AZ sells it.

I prefer using plastidip. It comes in a spray in black. I have it on my pillars and work really well. If you dont like it, you can peel it back off without any residue.

These pics were for the headliner, but you can see the pillars in them.

Duplicotor sells a vinyl paint line, Plasti-kote. I have used it quite a bit. Just clean the panel and spray. Available at pretty much every parts store in almost every color. Gloss black is really glossy. Like wet leather. You can use a Semi Gloss if you don’t want to look too shiney.

Have used in on hard plastic, vinyl armrests, and dash pads.

I used reducer to clean the surface before I sprayed the panel but you could use rubbing alcohol. Do not use mineral spirits or thinner. The Spirits leaves a film and thinner “can” eat the plastic.
