The axle is basically parallel to the ground while drag racing so the angle isn’t an issue. Rally guys tend to tear up bars and CVs due to the extreme angles they experience. I sheared the upgraded bar in half. The CVs and splines that engage the CVs are all in perfect shape.

On the street STi axle failures are VERY rare and I haven’t had it happen to any of my customers. It’s pretty much a launch only issue for street cars. The Targa STi we worked on and tuned blew an axle at Targa last year starting a stage and he only has a 16g turbo. Anyone launching with a good amount of torque that gets good traction will snap the bars.
