I think this is the breakdown:
Normal street tires on the street, no crazy launching (600 whp or less) - OK
Normal street tires autoX drag style launch (500 whp or less) - Should be fine.
R Comps at autoX drag style launch - around 400 lb/ft you will have a problem
Normal street tires at drag strip - Around 400 lb/ft of torque with a good launch or 350 lb/ft with an abusive launch the clock is ticking. It probably won’t happen the first several times at the track but it will happen at some point if you launch hard, slipping or not.
My combo of sticky tires plus over 400 lb/ft of torque plus 2 step launch at the drag strip = show up with DSS stage 5 or don’t show up at all
