I believe the opera mini can parse Adobe flash so you actually get fully functioning websites rather than the stripped down “mobile” versions.
Yea I love the iPhone/iPod Touch interface. Its fun. I cant see myself using it for work emails and stuff. I log on to Gmail when I need to with my touch and get sick of typing on the keyboard after a few lines, I cant imagine using the thing to type emails all day.
Its not hating no the iPhone or even AT&T. I just think it was a dumb move to release the cutting edge phone on a older network. Its like, would you buy a Treo on Verizon that uses the 1x network and pay $50 a month for data or would you but a phone that can use the EVDO and pay the same $50 per month for data.
cool.
im using a custom rom from dcd, thanks willybeen for installing. check out ppcgeeks.com. this rom is faster and utilizes a better radio so BT clarity is improved as well as normal audio. i also have full functioning GPS using google maps… i also have unimportant apps on my mem card to improve speed, as well as using memmaid to free up ram. theres a bunch of other little apps that improve use of the phone, like battery meter, today screen customizing, etc etc. ther is even a app to have the iphone cube and it slides just like the iphone as well because this is touch screen.
I have the base (450 minutes) plan plus an additional 2500 text messages and it costs me $82.xx a month including all the fees/taxes. All plans include unlimited data. The cheapest plan you can get probably costs $75.xx after fees/taxes.
wow thats a lot of dough… does the iphone have the same style of battery like the ipod where u cant replace it? are there problems with it like ipods?
Although i really like the iPhone and have had the oppertunity to play around on one for a bit, I don’t think its worth paying the buyout on my verizon contract to get one.
LOL at “it was a dumb move”… how many have been sold again? Almost 30% market share? YEA - TERRIBLE BUSINESS IDEA.
How many morons are out there still talking about “features, features, features”?.. Its all about the interface and integration. It’s game changing, and the announcement this week proves that Apple will be the company that leads the mobile industry for the next decade, at least.
Just wait until the fully integrated voip applications start hitting the appstore… Free Calls on Wifi, Calls that are AS EASY to make as a normal call, that utilize the contact list, etc. This is just one of a million ideas that can be implemented on this platform, and work better than they have ever worked on anything, ever.
Gaming - Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor - Console level graphic ability, think of the possibilities.
Noone is saying that 3G wouldnt be nice, but if it came at the expense of battery life, size or any number of other things - I don’t think I would care for it. 90% of the time I need to use internet enabled applications, I have wifi available. Outside of wifi, EDGE does the job.
hacked iphone > *
I am not saying it is a bad business idea. Its new and revolutionary. I just don’t think that they put much thought in releasing such an amazing device and not putting 3G technology into it. Just a poor move. Its not even that 3G is new and in testing. Its been around.
“30% market share”. Great. They came in and took 2nd best in a market of about 3 devices. Blackberry will control and will continue to control this market in the US since they are such heavily deployed and integrated with businesses. They are now coming into a consumer view that continues to grow their shares. Who else is in the market? Plam is pretty much dead every where so its either Blackberry or iPhone and I phone is in second. Congrats. Remember when Apple and Mac used to control the PC market too? We all know how that turned out.
The Smartphone market will continually be held by Blackberry until either the iPhone comes in out 3g and integrates a little better with Exchange/Lotus Notes/etc. or mid 2008 when the Android cell phones start being released and the whole smart phone market will change esp since these devices will be completely open source and available on more than just one network.
So the open platform just got closed since no Skype, Firefox/Opera, or Java so far.
