Apple’s marketing is fucking incredible. Seriously, what other company has managed to convince their customers that their products are social statements to the level that Apple has managed to?
I’ll give them that. I can’t think of any group more into making a statement that they support a certain company than iFags. I really think Nokia should have entered into a marketing agreement with Apple to sell their stuff before they got into the whole iphone thing.

Some people buy it for functionality, not to be trendy. Ive used one, and own an itouch. Ive also used just about every verizon phone out there. Im still old school with my samsung u740, but the iphone cant be touched. Its way better than anything out there. All the people who say they HATE the iphone, are just being bitter. They probably hate the way Apple markets their product (like I do). They probably also hate SOME of the tools who brag about it constantly and think they are cool because they have one. But come on. Nobody really HATES the iphone or thinks it totally sucks. Thats just dumb. Its revolutionary.
And make them over pay for coolness and trendyness 
My laptop was 1/2 the price of a MacBook Pro and has better video, memory, processor, etc.

Back in the club…my old job gave me one for a work phone.
they just half-assed too many things in order to rush it out. Every other phone in the last 5 years has MMS. Every other smartphone can cut and paste. One app open at a time previously died with the old Palm shit. Really, because you’re Apple you can put out the original version that’s supposed to be a revolutionary web surfing device with EDGE?
And I hate the level of control Apple has over it. I’ve had my AT&T plan since 2003 and can use it with ANY other phone, but with the iphone i’d have to change it and pay a ton more. And the “revolutionary” touch keyboards still suck dick. I used one for 2 weeks (unlocked and jailbroken) and sold it on ebay for a $400 profit so I don’t HATE the device, but combine these little dumb things with the amount of humping it receives, and its :banghead: x523321412

Whats soo wrong with AT&T, 3G coverage is good, speeds are great, unlimited data isnt limited to 5GB/mo… Prices are similar, if not less.
If you want a iPhone, it would be retarded to SIM unlock it to run on another network. I wouldnt want to deal with the possible and likely hassles.

Some people buy BMWs because they drive well, others, for the image. Don’t overgeneralize or make the same type of inference when it comes to the iPhone… sure, some people own one because its “cool” but don’t be so insulting as to assume I fit that category. I might use Apple computers for my job (print and web design/development, video and photography) but I’m not THAT brand loyal, if Microsoft or Nokia or anyone else came out with a superior product I’d be there in a heartbeat. I jumped ship between OS 8.6 and 9 back to a Dell Precision and an HP Kayak because the mac was such a disaster as they transitioned hardware, software, etc - and XP (beta back then) actually didn’t suck that much in comparisson, plus I was doing more 3D Studio work … I’ll use whatever fits my needs best, brand-be-damned.
I just don’t see it happening any time soon, everyone else is in catch-up mode (look we have touchscreens and an app store blah blah). 30mil users already? yeah, thats pretty attractive to developers - its going to be a tough device to beat.

I love ATT. Not only is the plan cheaper than verizon, I get an awesome discount so my bill is much more affordable with a better phone. Back in the day, ATT sucked and dropped calls but now its got great coverage every city and town I have been to.

Most htc devices do. I would consider android if it were on a better phone.
The phone is ugly as hell and the service sucks, but the platform is really the real deal. The best part is, is this was the first developed version of it. I can imagine it only getting better.
I plead with you guys, check one out for more than a 5 minute gander. You will understand the future capabilities of the software.
