Looking at getting a new phone and the sheep in me says to follow the crowd and get another iPhone…but I kinda wanna try the Google Pixel.
It looks like that are almost the same, but Apples ios has been leading the pack forever.
If you want to try android that’s your best bet because it’s pure android without any carrier nonsense baked in. Plus that means all the issues with not getting updates because the carrier stops updating their firmware with the google releases goes away. You get your update as soon as google releases it. I tried android for almost two years, running Samsung’s touchwiz then several different roms. Just not for me and happily came back to iOS.
If you really want Android then Pixel is the way to go. Nexus and Pixel get the updates first and the purest version of Android before the providers and vendors add their bloat to it.
Android is much different than iOS. User friendly and look of Apple is a benefit and some people have trouble really using Android from what I have seen so just something to think about. That and your friends hating you for the green bubbles in texts and not iMessage.
If you go Pixel get it directly from google. Verizon models have a couple add on’s. I like ios but I need a back button. I’ve had a bunch of android phone’s and my Nexus 5X has been the best one followed by droid maxx. I had a Samsung S5 and hated it. My wife has a iphone 7plus, awesome phone but its heavy.
I have a pixel that I preordered, It’s my first non iphone.
It’s a worse appliance when you just want a phone to be a phone, but super fun for all the power user things you can do.
I’m enjoying it, but hesitant to recommend to anybody who doesn’t want to be a power user that messes with stuff and is willing to deal with annoyances.
my biggest hate is the lack of the toggle switch to silence it.
I have an iPhone 7 and my wife has a Pixel. She’s not a tech savvy person and the Pixel is just not right for her, she was on a Moto X Gen 2 before and really liked it though. Personally, I’d take the Pixel if I was going to Google up my house with all of the neat stuff they’ve come out with. Just for work and to have a phone, the iPhone is the better choice for me.
I got a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge for blackfriday, it came with a $400 bestbuy gift card and free VR set. Which was a lot more than what I would have gotten with an iphone. I also wanted a phone I could charge and have a separate auxiliary cable because my work van I use an fm transmitter to play music over the radio.
I like the phone, the VR is cool it’s funny to just watch people as they play, there are scary experiences with it and my sister was screaming and we were all laughing
I’ve had a Nexus 6P and Google Fi for a year and have been happy with it. I prefer it over my work iPhone, although Google could do a better job with calibrating the battery software.
USB-C is a minor annoyance until it becomes more popular.
