Is it possible?

I was thinking about a few things for my slow arse 1990 single cam. My first idea was the SR20DET swap.

Second thought was a high comp. KA24DE. (take the head gasket from the nissan truck, raise the compression and run quickly, but not fast.

Idea 3: turbo the KA24DE, build the bottem end, and shoot for 20PSI and 150 shot of NOS using 3:1 dual fuel.

Then there was the idea of an LS-7, but thats not something I want to toy with now.

What would be the best out of the suggested? Im looking for something that I can run day in day out, and not have to constantly fix. Also, it has to be fairly easy to create in the first place.

easy and simple = SR20

high-comp motor will give you probs in time

kat will more likely give you more probs then a SR and to an extent a KAT can cost more…

do whatever you want to do or do whatever you can do with the amount of money you have…

everyone on this forum has their on preference/opinion and many are KAT based… alot prefer the SR… to each their own

It all boils down to budget… let that guide your way…

High comp sr20de

Best of both worlds

estimated price; $12,000?

am I close cal?

I dont know but it cannot be cheap.

I say you build that KA-T…

The KA-T is my favorite out of the bunch, but I’d probably buy a beater sx to go with it so Im not tempted to drive it every day and show off and such.

i too have been researching what to do with my 240 once i find one that i like and buy it. i’ve been around ka-t.org, sr20forum.com, zilvia.net, here on son240sx.ca, and i’ve concluded that ka-t is the better (but more expensive) way to go. obviously i have no credibility on this statement, but from all the information i’ve gathered, ka-t is i’m doing at least. just my two cents.

I’ve been flip-flopping on the issue personally, but with gas prices the way they are, and the fact that if you can control your right foot an SR will give you way better mileage than even a stock KA it definitely has some advantages. That and it being cheaper to begin with, unless you can fab your own stuff.

Fab I can, and fab I do. I built a TT setup for a 5.0 mustang last week. That and I know someone that can weld like no other.

no

excuse me?

bing change your sig image…

I haggle the n00bs; I haggle you too. :squint:

Yeah, edit that shit. And those comics arent even funny.

I did an RB, but thats me.

How much power do you what to make?
What kind of budget do you have?
How much time frame, do you have?

Id love to see 375 at the ass end, and I know its possible. Budget is dependant on what I decide. If I choose the KA-T then Im going to have to lay more into this car and leave the other project aside for awhile. Time? Hoping to have it done by next fall.

“nos isnt for amatures , ive seen the way you drive youve got a heavy foot”

Bwahaha. I knew that’d come up sooner or later. I’ve plumbed a few budget muscle cars with the stuff, and it does wonders. Dunno how the smaller engine will respond, but time will tell.

I was debating the same thing, my key points are that the sr is a quicker swap, good for a noob like me, but the ka-t would be much more torquier (if that’s even a word)
