Batteries would last longer if you didn’t spend so much time picking out annoying fonts and typing out pointless emails.
So if the batteries and charger make it longer than 4 years it works out?
This is why many “green” solutions don’t work. The return on investment is far to long for the initial startup price.

plus, who is going to be in charge of recharging the batteries? Of making sure they are stored correctly when not in use?

Man, you pay a lot for rechargers and batteries. 
I have the logitech G7 mouse…which use rechargeable LION batteries…the keyboard i don’t need wireless.
LoL I like it.
