Is this wheel salvageable?

Hit a chunk of ice or something. Not sure what to think of this. Already bought a new wheel but is this scrap or can it actually be repaired?

Are you serious?

Honestly, I know nothing about aluminum repair.

I know they don’t have issues resurfacing or straightening I would imagine it would take a lot to unfuck that rim.

Is it rare?

Try a can of Fix A Flat

It’s a BMW 621 off a 2015 X1. Not rare but not cheap.

Throw it on ebay with plenty of pictures. If someone else wants to fix it and use it; great, but I’d rather spend the extra money and have the peace of mind.

I had a buddy fix a rim that looked like that. its not on the bead and no one sees it so we just put a ton of weld on it till it held air, drove it like that for 2 years every-time I got a new tire the tire mounter would point it out and tell me how unsafe it was.

I told the new owner when i sold him the car. not sure if he kept it or replaced it.

I guess I’ll try throwing it on eBay and see what happens. Thanks.

Not worth the risk IMO.

JB weld and/or duct tape should fix it right up.

Pro tip: sell the 3 other wheels one at a time on ebay for top dollar since there are none up there right now.

use the funds to more than cover a whole new set of aftermarket or used oem wheels.

i might be interested in those

let me know, they are 35 offset and dipped semigloss black atm

I already bought a replacement wheel. Just asking this question out of curiosity.

Yeah that could be welded. They would cut it out square and weld in new aluminum. It’s not really a big deal if a shop knows what they are doing.

I had a customer with almost identical damage, has been driving on it for years after it was welded with no issues at all. Honestly it has held up better than any bead crack weld I’ve seen. I would say, fix it.

Don’t do it, being a cast wheel I’d say the whole thing has been compromised and I would seriously not reccomend fixing it. If it was forged I still wouldn’t advise it but it might be doable then
