Issues with my HU

I have a problem with my HU in the regal, recently i seem to have lost some sound coming from my left front speakers. They are infinity separates i believe, whats happening is that im not getting alot of treble out of them, compared to the right side. I know the HU is good as this happened on my other HU as well, I have sound, it just seems alot lower than the right side. Kinda hard to explain. Could it be my crossover?, or the amp?. This shit confuses the crap out of me. help!!

Thanks

At your age, maybe it is your hearing ? You should get it checked.

does your drivers door play music from both the tweet and the woofer?

yes, it just sounds muffled, kind of hard to explain.

Did you check the actual speaker to see if everything was OK?

whoops

yeah it plays fine, just doesn’t sound like the right side. i have no idea

Did you blow the tweeter?

im not sure, if its blown would it work at all?

cause mine still works

yeah they might be blown. I know exactly what you mean, theyll sound like they lost alot of clarity and the frequency response will be pretty iffy, somtimes buzzy/muffled sounding. Somtimes, if they have remote mounted X overs the connections can become loose or they can be smoked but usually itll blow the driver first.

switch the door speakers first to rule out if its the actual speaker?

Yes it would still work just wouldnt have nearly any of the output it did have.

Youd have to be listening to music at a loud volume for a good amount of time to blow it.

Probably 30 mins at least at 70% volume would do it.

Tweeters are cheap.

Check your wiring, its usually very tiny and if you push any decent wattage through it can melt

usually its only when guys crank them into distortion/clipping, it causes mechanical and thermal breakdown of the speaker quickly. You can smoke speakers quickly even with relatively small amp’s, its more damaging that overpowering the speaker with clean power though

True, Dirty low power is worse than Clean high power.

I only bring my alpine deck to level 25, its about as loud as i want to go, and its just before distortion

how do i prevent this, and will any tweeter do if its blown?

What type of headunit do you have, do you have a another amp for the components? are these stock speakers? aftermarket?

i have a pioneer HU, infinity kappa speakers, aftermarket. yes i have another amp powering them, i believe its Phoenix Gold Octane-R 2.5:2. Seems like the amp and speakers match pretty good.

It should, Thats all good stuff, Kappas are expensive as shit too. And I doubt its blown.

Are the tweeters seperate like on the A-pillar corner, or are they 2-way door speakers.

If you have an In-line crossover that can get toasted, as well as any thin guage wiring.

Check your level on your amp to make sure there all the same, as well as the settings on the HU, just to be absolutely sure.

yeah they are seperates, hu settings are all fine, i checked them today, ill check the amp also, along with the crossover and wiring.

Ok, Chances are youve got a power loss in either a wire or a cross over.

Maybe you blew a driver, but Its less than likely with a kappa
