Japan Nuclear zone in Google Street View

Go to Namie, Japan and take a look around. It a small town and still a few miles from the nuclear power plant.

Pretty wild. Entire city is abandoned (obviously). Cars and trucks just left in place.

Modern era Ukraine. Such a shame all that lost for an immense amount of time.

Is it a no entry zone?

It’s amazing to look around and imagine how everything will just decay overtime and never be used again.

Lots of stray cars at used dealerships too, I found a Civic Type R:

By the looks of it, all roads are sealed off except for major routes - those look like they have police checkpoints to get in from what I see on street view. I wonder how long you’re allowed in? I think the Chernobyl tours are only 45 minutes due to radiation.

Crazy and awesome.

So eerie.

Sorry to bring this up, but… This “no entry zone” thats all sealed off and crazy unsafe, let Google in there to drive a car around and take pictures of all the streets?! Just me, or does anyone else find that wierd??? :dunno

Definitely find that strange. Guess its just the times we live in, its like super high tech rubbernecking.

I thought about that, then I considered how much money google has to throw around and dismissed it.

Was thinking the same…

From what I read; the mayor of Namie asked if Google could map the town to preserve what happened. Citizens are still allowed in with government approval or brought in on a bus on very few occasions. You’re limited to about 3 hours inside the zone, have to wear protective gear/mask, and can only take small possessions back. I’m sure there are more restrictions on what can leave the zone too.

There is a very good article with some great photos on National Geographics website:

Havent seen any updates myself in awhile but I know a few months back things were still bad, radiation still leaking etc…

This will probably be worse than Chernobyl if its not already. Unfortunately the japanese governemt are a buncha tards and dont like to ask for help or update the rest of the world on whats going on

definitely worse than chernobyl already.

Wayneee i know you were huge on this… Any updates I havent been able to find… all the stuff im skimming through is saying itll take 40+ years to fully decomission it… Still to hazerdous to go in and completely shut it down etc etc…

this

That article I read, the mayor of Namie said probably 10 years and they hope to move back in lol. They probably will, and everything will be contaminated as fuck.

I also found an orange 64 Impala low rider parked next to a Lincoln Town Car low rider with gold wire wheels at a shop. A bunch of Cadillacs and a couple early 80’s Monte Carlos at another shop too.

:rofl:rofl

Seriously! Haha. There’s a black 240 in front of someone’s house with a couple sets of wheels by the door too.

We need to start a foundation; Save The Nuclear Cars of Japan. We’ll make a commercial and ask people to donate money for rescue and decontamination.
