I watched this like 10 times more and you know the second police car was not that far off imho. Seems like the guy was going for the impatient left turn and yes the cop was speeding. By impatient, I mean those people that would rather cut you off than wait for one more car to go by, even though there is no one after you for a long ways. fucking hate that shit.
I give sympathy to the passenger of the car who had no decision.
With the speed limit at 45 in that area or even 55, impatient or not, He would have had plenty of time to make the turn if some fucknut wasn’t doing 94.
I’m pretty fucking amazed they released that tape.
i didn’t say the cop was at NO fault, but obviously the cop was a lot closer than 1 /4 mile away…if the cop was 1/4 mile away and doing 95 MPH, the person would have had ~10 seconds to make the turn.
SO OBVIOUSLY the police cruiser was MUCH closer.
AND PLUS, the driver was drunk…which also takes into play his judgment.
As I said before, it’s the cops fault, but it’s ALSO the driver who was hit fault too.
It’s an accident, both people were at fault, just one more than the other.
My sympathy is with the family of the deceased
EDIT: SO lafengas, I’m NOT fucking kidding you. If i was the driver of that car, I would have NOT made that turn, because the police cruiser was probably within 300 feet. Sometimes impatience kills, in this case, it did.
OMG i fuggin hate that. Everytime someone does that shit to me i have to ask myself did this person realy just cut me off with NOBODY behine me for a good mile? lol
Working in the insurance industry and watching the video, I agree with this. The car did make a left hand turn in front of the police cruiser and failed to yield the right of way. As a driver you a make decisions every couple of seconds regarding your surroundings and should be able to judge whether it is safe to make a turn like that or not.
There is a large contributing factor on the police cruiser for his speed and appears to be no reason for it, but I do not believe the officer was 100% at fault here…
The passenger in the left turn vehicle is an innocent party.
Need to teach people this shit in drivers ed^ fucking aggrivates the fuck out of me too, The other part that pisses me off is that they don’t even think they did anything :banghead:
you only have to watch the video once to tell that the car almost completed the turn. granted it was poor judgement by both parties, if the cop had his lights on and/or was not doing 95 mph the accident wouldn’t have happened
at 94mph, 300ft would only take the cruiser 2.1s to close that gap. If you’re in a 45mph zone… 300ft, would give you nearly 4.5s, that’s a big difference when it comes to judging a turn across 2 lanes. 99.9% the cops fault, 0.1% the victim’s fault for not acurately judging the speed of the oncoming cop.
Im not sure where my oppinion lies on whos fault this is, mostly towards the cop, but we have all made mistakes, i just feel that this is terrible because if this were just kids speeding, it would be another dumb teenager making mistakes, but when this is a cop making the mistake it just leaves you thinking that the ones who enforce the law, are just as reckless as anyone. i know the majority of cops abide by the law, but i have definatly talked to a few that the first thing they did when they got the charger police cruisers, the first thing they did was race the crown vic cruisers. just goes to show were all human, not an excuse though
I Just get SO MAD When I See something like this. I Wanted to know some more details.
I took the GPS Coordinate off the Dash Cam Display from the Beginning of the Video. Then Used the Coordinate at the End of the Video. Doing So, I Plotted a Point A, and a point B. I Determined that this “Event” Took place On RT. 1 " Boston post road" Just Outside of New Haven CT. You can Even See the Police car Pull up Next to the “TARGET” store on the right. After the Crash . Which is where the Coordinate Pu the Stop point. Then using Google “Street level” Maps I Looked at the Route. The speed limit all along that part of the road( Where the Video was recorded) was BACK AND FORTH Between 35 and 40 MPH!!!..And the Car With the Dashcam had its Speed Right there!..HE was going 72MPH at one point…ACTUALLY when the OTHER Cruiser Passed at what appeared to be TWICE The Speed.( JUST Before the accident) With Just a Simple Measurement calculation using the Dashcam car speed as reference as baseline, I Believe that vehicle was Travelling WELL OVER 100mph…in a 35mph ZONE!?!?!?!? That should be negligent Homicide. Makes ME SICK!
