Risk does NOT always equal reward. Furthermore, a 5% pay increase is a piss-poor reward to expect when faced with the risk of:

1. Potentially losing your new job when the new employer needs to reduce budget and eliminate employees without seniority.
2. Potentially hating your new job.

i know a lot of you are talkin about the warm weather as a factor for moving… well if global warming is legit pittsburgh will be pretty nice in about 10 years or so when houston is burnt to a crisp

2.5 years

from a comfortable job that was going to be around as long as I wanted it to be to a consulting company.

the job is with the same company so im not worried about losing my job. Its a better title and the money is actually on par with that region with the corporation. so when i move back to the east i can get another bigger raise. I dont want to spend another 4 months looking for a job and staying in baltimore id rather take the better title n a lil money now than be miserable staying in baltimore.

As for cost of living it will all wash out since i have a roomate now the 6% i wont pay in state taxes will over the difference. Also i will drive less miles to work insurance is cheaper and also wont have4 to pay 150 a month to park. So thats 250 right there a month ill have more to spend. So im going for it im going to take the offer tomorrow after i counter offer for 8% if i get it great if not then its ok too. I just need out of baltimore and best of all its only a year contract so i can always move in a year if i can find another job.
