Jons 2004 Subaru WRX Chargespeed Super GT Widebody

Has potential to look clean I guess, the body kit is wayyyy over the top but with the right wheels and not retarded offset like the one above it could look okay

Fonda? woah… what the hell happened to him? i havent heard of him in a while!

Hahaha . . . I love this thread. Haven’t heard what happened to this car until now. I remember I got a ride in it and the kid raced Benny in his ///M. It was a pretty sweet car, but wasn’t anything special as far as performance . . back then. I’m sure OP you got somethings up your sleeves and the more power to you.

Btw . . the reason you’re getting so much crap is cause if this car was black or some other color instead of “Official Ferrari, $10k paint, Red”, then people wouldn’t hate so much. Just keep that head level when u get the comments from the haters, lol

GL, and hopefully I’ll see this thing and u out there this summer

You’d be surprised, it looks pretty similar today. Like everyone said, the bumper is probably the part that needs the most attention, but it looks a lot better than it previously had. It was installed on the car without the three piece bottom lip section and looked nothing like it should have. He did it because the car was sitting too low and it kept bottoming out. I don’t blame him for making an attempt, that bottom lip section alone is priced at over a grand, the carbon fiber piece is $560 alone, but there had to be a better way around that.

I do agree that the kit is a bit out there, especially for a WRX. I’m looking to stuff some 18x10’s under there.

I’m going to take the power trip slowly and carefully planned, I don’t want to rush things and have it turn out like shit. To be honest, it will probably be just a stage II set up for this entire season so that way I can do all of my work come winter when it’s in the garage. Yea, the paint does make it stand out quite a bit hahaha. No worries, you’ll see it out real soon, I need a car to drive.

Status update:
Did a nice “weight reduction” clean out… I’ll put a picture up and it will blow your mind how much shit was in the interior of this car I’m guessing a couple hundred pounds of shit. Then it’ll blow your mind to know that none of the interior was harmed in the process hahaha.

Front calipers are being painted, replaced driver side tie rod end and both hubs due to the fact that A.) I had two wrx hubs laying around and B.) the wheels bearings were DESTROYED from being moved too and fro without axles (:|…), turned my rotors yesterday, need to order some Hawks.

Keep you posted. OH! and I removed a Megan sticker from my back window. Big improvement. We are now stickerless, save for the one above my exhaust port on the rear bumper. That’s going very shortly.

Why would wheel bearings go bad because it was being moved without axles?

honest question…I intend on doing this very thing over the next week or so.

When they towed it around and pushed it on and off flatbeds, the axles weren’t there to hold the bearing in the hub, so they popped right out of the hub and well, exploded, or pretty much broke into pieces. The only thing holding the wheels to the car was the fact that the caliper brackets were getting stuck and just barely holding them together.

For picture purposes, this is what happened. “|” represent wheels hahaha.

I should make a note that one major reason why this project is going to be possible is because I have my father helping me out quite a bit. He’s a 20+ year Subaru tech, so we’re going over every mechanical piece with a fine tooth comb.

And just because I brought the word “father” into the mix, I’ll note that my parents have not contributed anything financial save for allowing me to be insured on their policy (I still pay my insurance) regarding either my first WRX or this one. Just to clear things up in advance hahaha.

Keep in mind a portion of this is going back into the car (drive shaft, flywheel, a few miscellaneous parts here and there, but otherwise I figure everyone can at least agree that this is quite an improvement hahaha.

I see pretty much some plastic covers and floor mats :rofl

You’re pretty observant. Unfortunately it seems that you missed the clutch, transmission cradle, various power steering pumps, intake manifold, numerous heat shields, a large box that contains a handful of random parts, starter, axle shaft. These things are not commonly located on the back seat of a vehicle. hahaha

This guy hit it right on the head… you bought someone elses mistakes. I think you will turn it right around and make it worthy again. just keep at it, like it sounds like you are.

Also Plaf’s statement above is something to remember. When you get it back out, I would throw some “Under new ownership” stickers on the back of it, incase the CPD remember a widebody WRX rolling around too. catch my drift.

haha I said drift. :retardclap

Yea that’s something I’ve definitely been taking into consideration, and a big reason why I’m going to be keeping it wingless (unless I decide to go for some really crazy time attack look, granted it’s already gone a bit far in that direction…) My guess is this car has had a bit of a hot time with the CPD.

sick!

I also remember the previous owner saying it was 400whp…when I saw it go, it made me chuckle.

hopefully, you turn this thing around! good luck!

Working on it some more tomorrow morning.

UPDATE:
Short-throw installed, drive-shaft is in, axles are…out… intentionally (long story). Next would be axles and the motor. Keep you updated.

Update: Motor and axles going in tonight after I get out of bio lab.

Nice!

Pics help tell the story.

Update:

I accidentally fucked up a diff seal when I was maneuvering the driver side front axle around, idiot.

Motor might make it in tonight instead, I had to stop operation because I can’t do much until I fix that seal.

Most likely ordering Rota DPT 18x9.5’s in flat black, thinking about Hancook Ventis. Star Specs were a little too much wear for me.

pictures or BAN. seriously.

I’ll give it a shot tonight, there isn’t much to see at the moment to be honest.

“Under New Management” Do it.

Def want to see some pics man.
